Birds eye red chilli the little ones or Piri Piri, these are both easily available world wide and have a good kick which wears off very fast so even if it is a little bit much it wears off within minutes, the Jalepeno is also similar but not much in the way of flavour imo

and dont forget the Jalapen0r:

aka the Peter Pepper or Penis Pepper.
I have a whole bunch of Ugandan Birds Eye pepper seeds, best kind of African Birds Eye Chili I think, and actually today (though its late) I planted a lil patch of them.

Thanks guys. I'd like to try a hot wax pepper as well, but I don't know if I'll be able to find it.

I have been really dissapointed by every wax pepper ive tried so far, maybe good for pickleling or drying but not for cooking, the texture is very wierd unless minced into the food i kept getting these little hard to bite and chew waxy pieces of flavourless pepper flesh which is a bit like having a piece of soft plastic in your mouth, top it off i havent found them to have much kick in the heat department

Hey, does anybody know- can you plant the seeds from dried peppers from the store? Or not?

I have done scotch bonnets and birds eyes directly from the seeds i took from store pought peppers, i allowed to dry for a couple of weeks before planting, germination rate was almost 100% i ended up giving away most of them as seedlings and kept 2 of each to cross polinate

That depends. Dried peppers, generally not. Fresh peppers, often not as they use Monsatan frankenstein seeds for bigger yields, that have sterile seeds.
But, health food store fresh peppers? Thats a good chance they used heirloom varieties so your best bet is there.

Mine were from local ethnic market, they did not state the origins but they were the only place in the city i knew about that i could get them from, everywhere else had the regular selection of birds eyes and jalepenos from whatever industrial farm produces them by the millions (prob in Holland)

Around here, we don't use the Scoville system, we jsut say OH SHIT IT BURNS! and I mean sometimes it's so hot that people totally lose their heads and say all sorts of crazy capsicum induced rambles of asking a god to forgive them, etc.

For me its profanity. If I start exclaiming profanity, particularly "GODDAMMIT!" its a truly hot pepper.

The reaction initially is one of hand fanning, like that's really gonna cool off the fire in your mouth, let alone your ass! Then it's like dunk me in a bucket and drink aloe vera shots.
Mostly I prefer moderate peppers, because they get the intestinal job done jsut fine... growing face hair and all that... YEAH you heard me right, hotsauce grows chest/face hair.. wow

A friend from the Antilles brought me a chocolate habanero once and challenged me to take a bite.

And oh silly tit, I did, figuring it was the same as a regular habanero. NOT! Regular habs are 150,000-350,000 SHU, chocolates are 400,000-600,000 SHU.
I proceeded to the kitchen in disorderly fashion, poured a glass of water, squirted dishwashing liquid in and proceeded to froth-and-spit over and over, after the glass was done repeating with milk for 5 minutes straight.
Them is hot!
Now I'm looking for seeds for those

My uncle, being the that he was, let me eat a mouthful of those damn peppers when I was just 6 years old. I have been almost totally desensitized to capsaicin pain ever since. Which is nice, I can eat a shitload of spice and be fine, and I LOVE spicy food.
I guess that's why I'm so sensitive to hot foods. I don't have an uncle as sadistic as yours.

I asked my brother in-law to pick some peppers up while he was at the store. Not too crazy I said. He bought an orange habanero pepper which I thankfully researched and saw that it would have destroyed my mouth. I only ate part of it, but it was crazy hot for my taste buds. We also have serano and jalepeno peppers which I'll probably eat one of each today.

Remember theres such a thing as "jalapeno eating contests" for serious chileheads. Jalapenos are 8K at most, a habanero often is 200K or more

I imagine I would have been in the foetal position guzzling milk and crying if I had eaten the entire orange habanero. My tolerance to spiciness is non-existent at this point.

The best thing to do in such a case is rinse ferociously with a glass of water witrh a few drops of dishwashing liquid in, then following up with milk to re-grease your tongue.
