Blue light (bulbs and monitors), melanin, and circedian rhythm

lately i've been having some trouble with proper sleeping habits, so i looked up how i might be able to help this and i discovered that blue light spectrum has a dramatic effect on melanin and circadian rhythm.
IT also speeds up macular degeneration.
Your brain thinks that the blue light is sunlight, and reacts to it accordingly.
I realized that i have blue spectrum light bulbs all over the house, and that my computer monitor/TV gives off a lot of blue light too!
Some of you may know what happens to plants when they do not get proper light cycles; they have weak flowers, turn hermaphroditic, and are generally in stress.
This made me realize that i should be reducing my exposure to blue light after the sun has gone down if i want to be able to wake up when the sun rises.
I was having a discussion with someone and when i said;

I realized that the solution to the problem of TV screens and monitors is SUNGLASSES!
Well, not quite, you can buy special films that you can paste over your monitor/TV that blocks blue light spectrum.
I am going try this out, i would recommend it to anyone else who is having trouble with sleep hygiene.

There is also a link between this and bipolar disorder and other mental illnesses.
Blue light bulbs should really be illegal or have large warning labels.

Check out F.lux, sounds like it would be right up your alley.
Make sure you set the color temperature correctly. The default is too warm in my experience. At night, under whatever type of ambient lighting you normally use, open a white page on your computer. Then get a bright white piece of paper for comparison, and adjust until the colors match. (For me that's at 3400K.)
It takes a very short while to get used to, but then you'll wonder how you lived without it.

Now that I think about it, I've felt much better ever since setting my computers to best performance and getting rid of all the blue Aero shit.
In all seriousness I've noticed that I've been less sleepy at night when I watch TV since getting my huge flat-screen. F.lux looks pretty cool...
