They're so far apart.
Do you like fill up the sink every time you wash your hands or something?
No, you just use the cold or the hot. But if you want to shave, or wash in the sink, then you fill it up with both. It's seriously really simple. Typical American 'if it ain't our way, it don't make no sense' logic

That's seriously pretty stupid.
It makes no sense at all to have two faucets when you could just have one. Why should I have to either burn myself or freeze?
Typical "defend my archaic and stupid old way of doing things for no reason" attitude
And this thread wasn't even made by an American.
Typical jealousy of my American way of life

I think that maybe it has to do with the pressure of the water, maybe cold water is at a higher pressure or something?
Also it's better to have instant cold water for things like drinking rather than having to wait ages for the water to go cold using a mixer tap (many houses do use mixer taps).

Yeah man, taps are archaic! I just absorb the water out of the air to wash my hands There's nothing simpler than using a fucking tap. The concept is simple, using it is simple.

They should at least put the two taps closer together.
I expected this from Australia but not Britain.

Secondly, I have a few questions for the british dude who's name I didn't care to get.
1. What do you do if you need warm water for culinary purposes? Just fill up the whole cruddy scum butt basin, or heat it on the stove?
Both of which are a waste of resources, which I really don't see how you can argue with.
2. How you gonna talk shit on America?

I honestly have no idea. When I first saw the all in one tap though I was amazed It was like "genius now I can wash my hands at ambient temperature without burning them".
I don't think theres any specific reason for the 2 tap. The best answer I can think of this its just been kept the same for all this time and not enough people have caught on to the advantages and asked the plumbers to install a all in 1 tap instead when making a bathroom.
Things just tend to stay the same here, nothing much ever changes and no one complains. People in Britain only complain when you do change something. Even if it is more logical.
A few years ago they made the high street here into 1 lane instead of 2 lanes. Now its just a constant traffic jam They spent millions on that project I still have no idea what the point of it was or why they didn't expect it to make traffic worse or why they spent money to do that.

You can find these two-spout taps all over the US and Canada, its just that they are mostly found in older houses that have been built in the 1960's and earlier.
I think the only reason why they are more common in England than in the US and Canada is probably because a larger percentage of homes in England have been built prior to the 1960's. I think you will have a hard time finding a two-spout sink in any home built post-1960's in England, Canada or the US.

1 handle 1 faucet, now that is doing it right.

And yet I despise these, they always fail eventually as calcium builds up.
True, we bought one for the kitchen and it started to fail. I emailed the company with some pics and they sent me all the parts to fix it for free. Gotta love a good warranty. Of course I have had 2 handles knobby ones fail just the same. The water probably has something to do with it also, soft/hard water, calcium ,iron etc...
But yeah the single handle ones have lots of parts to fail. I still prefer them.
