I would just find myself getting to worked up over all the guys hitting curls and then looking in the mirror like they just achieved something; not complaining about that until they go over to the squat rack and do 8 sets with 115lbs, while I'm stuck waiting. Took me over an hour for a work out I can now do at home in less then 45 minutes!

Yeah, I avoid the gym during the times when most people are there. I'll go late morning or early afternoon and there are usually only a few other people there.
If I go around 5-6pm it is like a fucking zoo of people. I hate having to wait when rotating muscle groups.

That's a great analogy, the gym I used to go to really did remind me of a zoo!

i almost get amused by the brofags. haha. like i've said, im one of few lifters in my gym, all the other guys do curls and crunches all morning.
i still feel like an idiot for paying $600 a year to into a room and lift a heavy bar three times a week, though.

xk3m_indica said: ^^ Truth. A friend of mine is fit and quite toned, but all he has ever done has been isolation exercises, which has meant that for the past few years he has spent hours each day in the gym doing 10+ unnecessary isolation workouts. A few months ago he was complaining that his pectorals were getting too big.
I got him onto compound lifting and straight away he is seeing the benefits of it and 'all-rounder' benefits and is slowly dropping his isolation exercises. Some people just don't want to hear it though, they go "oh I want bigger arms" so they do curls and curls and tricep extensions and end up looking fucking ridiculous, with no strength either. So many people don't want to understand that to get bigger arms as well as a proportionate body and massive amounts of actual REAL strength that can all be achieved from 1 or 2 compound exercises as opposed to the 10+ isolations they do, if not just the 20 sets of curls and 20 sets of bench or cables they do every day.
I have to hold my tongue every time I go to the gym, I want to help some people but they just don't want to hear it, and I'll come across as a dick.
Spot-on with the magazines and whatnot giving people really wrong ideas, too.
So fucking true man. I just ignore those people, let them get on with it. They have the internet at home, they can inform themselves if they choose, or they can continue to train in ignorance. Doesn't bother me. Deadlift FTW!
