At this point, I'm so sensitive to them that I can feel them within minutes of getting bit which is probably a good thing.I too am starting to master this, and last few times I only came home with a few attached my clothing.

lymes is not the only thing u can get from ticks. ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and tularemia are also transferred by ticks. u might wanna check to make sure you don't have any symptoms of those.

bites do not always get the classic "bullseye" u should really make sure you are not experiencing any symptoms of lymes. i know several ppl who have had lymes and only a few got the "bullseye"

I got it twice, actually made a thread about it recently after I pulled a deer tick off my dick
Go to doctor or urgent care ASAP, if you get it early you could be lucky, like me, but if you do not treat it or have comprimised immunity, I wish you the best it can be really bad I hear!
Here is the thread

Do NOT try to burn the tick with a match or other hot object. Do NOT twist the tick when pulling it out. Do NOT try to kill, smother, or lubricate the tick with oil, alcohol, vaseline, or similar material.
Instead you need to use tweezers. Pull it straight out with a slow and steady motion. Avoid squeezing or crushing the tick. Be careful not to leave the head embedded in the skin.
Also mosquito spray keeps ticks away.

The EM rash, which does not occur in all cases, is considered sufficient to establish a diagnosis of Lyme disease even when serologic blood tests are negative
If you have the rash then it looks like you have it, especially since you know where a tick bit you. It's hard to test for, but it seems like you should be OK given that you have found it early, so get to the Doc.

I possibly had it before, although the tests came back negative and the doc said it was either lyme or human parvovirus. Tests are not so reliable. I've heard that antibiotics work, but not all the time.
I've gotten in the habit of taking resveratrol on a regular basis. I extract it with alcohol/h20 from Japanese Knotweed. It's a super common invasive species which happens to co-habit the same regions where lyme is most common. It helps prevent lyme and is even active against the spirochete. I've heard that in combination with south american herb cat's paw, over a couple weeks you can pretty much kill all the lyme in your system. But you wanna do it soon since it hides away in joints and myelin etc. http://planetthrive.com/category/experts/buhner/

I have/had lyme twice. If there is a bullseye rash it is most def lyme.. the rash is a good thing means you caught it early, like they said oral antibiotic and you will be fine. I didnt have a rash, they told me i prob had it for 1 to 2 years before my knee swelled up and i couldnt walk that was 12 years ago. I suffer from lyme arthritis now on a daily basis it effects all my joints... some days are fine, some days are hard to move... i am only 27 but it could be a lot worse.
Side note the tick has to be in you for over 24 hours to transmit the disease, so allways check yourself carefully. Taking a shower often kills the tick while it is still inside you... it will still transfer the disease if not removed.
I wish the best of luck to you and everyone who has to deal with it

Well it's official. Doc listened to my symptoms, took one look at my rash, and said one word: "Lyme."
I'm on my way to the pharmacy with a script for doxycycline in my hot little hand
He said that I had nothing to worry about; that I'd caught it early enough to be completely cured, and that his golf partner just got it last month. Apparently it's all too commn here in NJ.

I'd been keeping an eye on it, and even saved the tick, but it was nothing more than a mosquito bite up until this weekend. Musta been the stressful week.

IMO, the key is to prevent the tick from puking or otherwise discharging any fluid into you through its embedded mouth parts. The technique is to gently grab it as close to the skin as possible, doing your best to grab it by the mouthparts, and applying no pressure at all to the body. Then slowly pull it out. If a bit gets left in the skin, it will be nothing more that a sliver that your body should work out in a few days.
Burning, oil, paint thinner, and generally harassing the tick will only make panic and sense that its life is in danger. In response, it will puke it's guts out, and/or start secreting release juices like crazy in an attempt to free itself. Neither of these are good for you at all!
After the tick is safely removed from your body, torch the #%^#$@! immediately.
Anyway, thanks for your comments everyone. I just took pill 1 of 60 in my antibiotic schedule, so I'm feeling much better than when I posted this last night.

sucks man, however you caught it early which is good. like everyone says get on those antibiotics but also look into that japanese knotweed and cat's claw. knotweed grows everywhere in jersey. i did some more research and it turns out that astragalus is effective early on. As far as I know, all these herbs are safe to take along with antibiotics. check out stephen buhner's site for more info. good luck man.

In New England, we mostly only have to worry about Lyme as far as ticks go, if the others exist in the area, they are much less frequent. Anyways, I'm pretty sure these are all bacterial infections, so I imagine the doxy would knock them back as well.
Anyways, good luck, and if you're researching Lyme, be careful about which sources you use, many are outdated or give unsubstantiated information I have found.

So you never got sick at all? I'm always amazed at the different sets of symptoms people get from Lyme, perhaps it has to do with the fact that there are three known types of Lyme bacteria, but I imagine it has to do with the person to a large degree also.
I always wonder how I can be a carrier of Lyme, and have caught it more than once. I know that antibiotics do alot of the work, I had hoped that my body also formed antibodies or w/e the bacterial eqivalent is, but I guess not, since I got it twice also. I didn't get as sick the second time, always wondered why.
I am not sure how true it is about ticks coming off in the shower, I say this because I have pulled them off myself after being in a pool for 1hr+, and they are known to be incredibly hardy insects in general. Absolutely use caution when removing them, if they haven't already infected their host, causing them to die on you, or shocking it with heat or alcohol will potentially cause it to leak your blood mixed with bacteria back into you, or at least this is something I've heard.
Anyways, you should be fine OP, consider yourself lucky to have a doctor who is well informed on this. Lyme has been misdiagnosed and left untreated for many others, it was only discovered in the 70s, and it seems like only the past 10 or 20 years that most GP doctors have begun to learn about it.
Anyways, welcome to the club
