It Appears That I Have Caught Lyme Disease

A tick latched on about a month ago. I pulled it off and saved it just in case. After a very stressful week, I felt very weak, achy, and had a massive headache on Saturday. Woke up shivering in a cold sweat four times last night.
Finally thought to look at my leg: bullseye!
So I'm off to the doc ASAP. Any advice is appreciated.

And, if that wasn't bad enough, at work today, in the process of a terrific sneeze, I smacked my forehead against a cubicle corner. I've got a nasty red welt two inches long on the left side of my forehead.
It's been a long day. Peace out, peoples.

Damn man,I think I'm immune to tick diseases,I have at least 40 bites all over right now,and it looks like I have the chicken pox.As far as I know,I have yet to catch anything from them, except for the spots, and pretty bad itching. The ticks have to be on for at least 24 hours before you can catch the diseases,So you may not have Lyme.I got a similar bulls eye rash last year, and I had it checked at the doctor, and it was nothing.

Three weeks of oral antibiotics, you'll be fine.

Well I still have the tick. It was a little weird, though, because it was latched on but dead. I though that the flea and tick powder from my cat--that ends up on my hands, and often on me after I pet him--might have killed it. In addition, it was not gorged at all with blood.

I don't know much about lymes disease but if you think you may have it, get yourself checked. Lymes disease can be a horribly crippling disease capable of completely ruining your life as you know it. Like i said i don't know much about it and 3 weeks of antibiotics may be all you need, but regardless get looked at IMO.

You might find better advice on a medical forum rather than a mushroom hunting one.
Hope you feel better soon.

I had one like that; that didn't dissapear for months. I started getting super paranoid. I declared germ genocide on my inner leg.
I soaked it in alcohol at least 2x per day. Used H202 just as often. And I would hit it with neosporin (sp?) after every treatment. I know it was over kill (especially for me, I rarely wash most cuts; unless they really bother me.) but it made me feel better heh.....

Oh sorry, That was more directed at you. No need making people more worried than they have to be. I figured he clearly realized it was bad and was dealing with it post haste. No need to get too gruesome I figure. I also like to remain a very big optimist.

Absolutely true, if untreated in the first stage and goes on to develop into the second and third stages. Not a disease to be trifled with, not at all. Howevever, lyme disease, caught early and treated immediately is easily cured, in most people, with a three week course of oral antibiotics, usually doxycycline.

Fucking nutz man i feel bad for ya too ( glad someone else kinda shares my dilema tho too ) buddy
sucks im not allergic to anything else i kno of - but only the fucking deer ticks give me nasty itchy bites- - -- - - -
some might give me shit - but i unscrew my latched on ticks ( counter clockwise ) i usually get to see the chunk of skin they grabbed on to too - i hear about LOTS of weird remedies - but none are as practical as unscrewing them ( specially when ur bound to just get more ) - just watch one bite you once - they circle clockwise and sort of screw their head deeper -- -- - - - - hope you may use this advice there KGB - -- sucks getting the long lasting itch bites - i think deer ticks tiny tiny heads break off even easier than common dog/wood ticks - -- -- - - -
only seen worse bites with the chiggers down south my girl had NASTY chigger bites from passing out in the tall grass
something i DON"T wanna ever get myself
i got one ONE damn deer tick bite - been itching for a good month already
BURN IN HELL DIRTY TICKS i was fucked up last weekend and thought - ticks are one of the ONLY pests that could be GONE with NO significant domino effect to other animals/people -- - they have not ONE use except to cause misery - -- BURN IN HELL TICKS

Nah thanks man. I'll be fine as long as I get my @$$ to the doctor ASAP. Key with this is to seek immediate treatment, and not let it go.
I'm almost certain that I have it. Not only do I have bullseye where the tick latched on, but I'm weary, tired, achy, have a massive headache, cold sweat when I sleep, stiff jaw, every injury that I've every had is throbbing--something is definitely going on.

yeah, all the known deadly species live in my area, and I've been bit by them all.I really hate the lil tiny damn near microscopic size ones, they are really hard to spot! Thnaks on the advice for removal kid,I normally just scratch mine of with my fingernail until they come loose, always get the head out too.Chiggers tear me up too,as well as the mosquitoes, which by the way hit you up in swarms, which are so bad that you wanna cry,oh and the biting flies, hell,I could go one forever with what I battle nearly everyday in the Kentucky Outback

Any time man it was advice i was given by a lady at a southdakota hotel when i was a kid on vacation - i swear she knew her shit - ive watched the latched on ones actually go CLOCKWISE to dig in - go the opposite direction and they will BURN!!!! i have been told its bullshit by others ( and it is weird to unscrew ticks on you and your buddies ) but its the only way im sure to get the whole head out
a friend of a friend is also a DNR game warden here in WI - he supposedly has had lyme disease atleast 8 times - not good - but when its your job to walk in the densest forests its bound to happen - so tantoking don't think its a rare ass problem - antibiotics can cure LOTS nowadays!!
Good luck tantoking - your all good if you get in ASAP like you said Get some meds - youll be back having fun in no time

That's too bad, Tango. From what you describe, it really does sound like Lyme Disease. You got bit a month ago and are just noticing the bull's eye?
I too am allergic to ticks. I get a large rash (no bull's eye) a foot to a foot and a half across if I get bit good, and raised bumps that last months. At this point, I'm so sensitive to them that I can feel them within minutes of getting bit which is probably a good thing.
Last year I was feeling kinda bad with exhaustion, joint pain, stiff neck etc...I had a Lyme titer done and took antibiotics for 28 days. Not sure if I had Lyme disease, but I felt better after the antibiotics.
When I told the doctor I wanted to be tested for Lyme, he laughed and acussed me of watching too much TV. Dipshit. After I told him the situation and showed him the rash, he took me more seriously. I asked him what I could do to prevent future bites, he said to stay out of the woods. When I told him that wasn't an option, he suggested that I use a stick cause that's what they use back home in the Philippenes for cobras.
Just a warning...your pet dog can also contract Lyme. My parents dog just died after getting Lyme. Blindness, dementia, seizures...not pretty.
Anyway...definitely follow through with the treatment and good luck, Tango.
