So i've been reading "How to's" and great guides on this website. Extremely helpful and interesting. But i am looking for a more direct answer to aid in my ability to trip .
Okay here's my main question. Would it be faster for me to buy a kit and grow some shrooms or find them wild? I have a good bit of time to go and hunt, and i have been. No luck yet. But even though i've read a ton of manuals on hunting i still feel i lack the experience and knowledge to know where and when to look.
So my final question is, If you were living in south western pa right now what kind of places for what mushroom would you look i.e Look for subbs in rich neighbourhood hood? Or some growing in a cow farm? or a random wood lover?
Thank you for your info, one day ill find some and The Wife and I will trip once again .

I would say in the Northeast, Subbalteatus is your best chance if you were to find any in the wild. You might find them around cows, I've never looked really, I have found them in years past on around horses, I think thats your best bet. Still, even with access, they are a bitch to find, and they don't usually come in great numbers most years. I hope you are patient, and willing to accept failure, if you intend on tripping on anything local.
If you are around cow fields, I may look around for liberty caps. I have heard they grow in NY and Western MA, so I imagine they may grow in PA too. I couldn't offer advice here, I've never found them Personally I couldn't see myself picking around stranger's fields though, its not like other regions where the reward can outweigh the risk, you will come back empty handed >90% of the time, if you ever find anything at all.
At first I was just interested in tripping, but I've found exploring fungi can be pretty fun own its own too , start small, and when you do find something active, you will be able to recognize it
Happy hunting!

I'm in western PA too and I'm thinking about just growing to be 100% sure I get what I want and get as many as I want. I'm all for romping in the woods, but I feel it would just be faster and more profitable just to grow my own. As for the difficulty of that the TEK doesn't seem to complicated. Hope I may given
