Looks good from here.  Do you have a dry verm barrier? Also - be patient.  It's the hardest thing to do for us noobs.

Yea looks like your dry verm layer is too thin or non-existant. That is definately myc tho.

There is a dry verm layer 3/4-1 in thick on all of my jars. It's kind of hard to tell but I assure you it's there. I also compacted some of the dry verm barrier not sure if that's limiting my gas exchange but so far so good.

Thanks guys!

The longest month of my life was during my first grow. I did the PF tek and it turned out great. I have been in love with mycology ever since. Good luck bro!

Yeah, I can't wait. At least I've got 2 grow ops going to watch and keep me entertained.

Now i've never grown before, but plan to very soon. From what I can remember reading a while ago, your supposed to split 12/12 light and darkness. True? or is it just in the Myc stage you can have 24/7 light?

Yes 12/12 for fruiting is necessary. When colonizing its not as important, although some say the mycelium benefits from an early introduction to a circadian rhythm.

I knew 12/12 for fruiting but before birthing my cakes I figured 24/7 would work just fine.

As far as circadian rhythm goes do you mean the myc may benefit from 12/12 rather than 24/7?

Some say it will help but I don't have any personal experience. I just leave mine on a shelf where they are exposed to ambient light, seems to work fine.

Once I get more space I intend to experiment and try to perfect it for what I have to work with.

I'll move this over to the grow logs once things get more exciting and compile the pics. Should be tasty. :Tastesgoodman:

RR Cake Tek says let sit in indirect light at 75-80 degrees I believe. As do most others.

I read an older post from RR yesterday.. He said that light doesnt effect which way your shrooms grow much at all. It has more to do with the direction air is flowing. If you have a fan on your FC.. You can rotate your container 90 degrees everyday and they will grow in a spiral? I think the post was like four years old tho..

I just use the ambient light from the room when fruiting. Ive never bought any special lights/ had any problems with my shrooms growing straight up.

75-80 degrees for fruiting is old info. I always keep mine right at 73 degrees and works perfect. Closer to 80 degrees promotes the growth of "bad" stuff in your substrate.
