Opinions on colonization

I was wondering if your substrate isn't fully colonized and it started to grow shrooms what would happen? Would it contam/ finish colonizing or just not work at all.

Depends what the substrate is and how it was prepared. It also depends on the reason the substrate is fruiting early. If it's fruiting early because it got a lot of fresh air and water, then you're probably fine depending on the substrate. If it's fruiting early because it has contamination issues, then you're prolly fuxored.

Coir often looks a little uncolonized if you exposed the sub to fresh air during the colonization period. It's not a big deal. If you have uncolonized bits of brf cake, you're toast, it's going to be disgusting or there will be stroma. If it's straw, then you might want to cut off the uncolonized ends to keep trich away.
