Need some help-Contractors

I am about to obtain my North Carolina Plumbing license for commercial and residential. I was wondering if there is any way I can bid for jobs without throwing away money by applying on sites to be "considered." If I can get things going I would like to start hiring a crew and hopefully help out some shroomerites if they are in need of work.
Any help would be appreciated.

Me and my buddy printed up flyers for the house painting company we started. Then we went to areas with nice homes and hung them on door handles door to door. My friend also bought some address list off the internet(can't remember where) and we sent out mailers too. Probably spent like 5-600 on all the flyers and postage but in the end that accounted for like 75% of our business over the course of two summers. Small investment considering how much money we made.
I imagine something like that would work for a plumbing too. Gotta get to those homeowners somehow!!!

Thats a great idea. I had that theory planned out as well. I'm trying to get in good with some GC's and learn when they are about to start a new construction site. That info would be great as well, but the service part would be killer money if the people pay.
Plumbers charge at a minimum in NC $90-100/hr. Thats a lot if it isn't a small fix and this economy people tend not to pay if the consequences aren't that servere.

I have a stone company in Texas that builds retaining walls and things of that nature. GC's is where you will find most commercial jobs, once you let them know you want to build a business relationship with them they will invite you for bids and put you on a list for future reference so they can invite you to their future constructions. When it comes to commercial it is all about building relationships and becoming well known, that sometimes involves offering the GC's some cash under the table. Personally, I find residential to be easier to work with since you don't have to finance the job for such a long period, it is easier to have the lowest bid, you work at your own pace and it usually leaves more profit. My advice is to do some creative advertising.

I just got lmfao first contract for a residential house. It was only drawing the plumbing schematics to code for the home owner since he is doing the work. Made 300 for 3the hours of mapping out a slab layout.

Mavs did great, but I still don't give a shit about basketball. Congratulations man , you will learn to ignore the guilt you feel at first for setting your hourly wage at the same level as a lawyer in no time.
