got a better camera so I overhauled the log. Almost all the spawn is complete! One tray in the GH and one colonizing.

looking good brotha...
Do you have any open holes @ the top? I had a 1-1/8" in diameter open hole in the center back of mine to allow for the hot+humid air to escape a bit...
It can't all be pushed out the bottom, you're going to get a "pocket" of air @ the top...
Also, make sure you're not exchanging air too often, I had the problem of too much FAE to where my substrates weren't feeling the humid air as much as I had hoped.
Looks great!
PS...I'd recommend investing in a bakers rack or heavy duty steel racking system to hold your colonizing bags, as too much air passing by them may introduce contams. Check out RR's gallery. He keeps his colonizing room completely separate from the fruiting room. I do the same.

but I don't discourage people for making/trying out GH's because that's a HUGE learning curve. I wouldn't be able to tell that my mushis were getting proper FAE in tubs w/out my GH experience.

I don't discourage growing in green houses. It is one of the best ways to grow. If I owned my house I would have walk in green houses for rooms. With a bunch of those bakers racks you were talking about in them and a big humidifan running in each. Then I could monitor the environmental conditions and tweak them for the different types of mushrooms I grow so they would thrive.
I never said there was anything wrong with greenhouses. Just because I grow with monotubs doesn't make it the best way to grow. It is just the best way to grow given my circumstances.
Green houses = winn too bro
BUt given your circumstances too glad to hear about the upcoming tearing session,

O, my GHs have been long gone...well, not gone nor forgotten...but I've switched to monos...
The GHs are for Oysters
I'd say, other than cubes, GHs are the way to go for all mushrooms, but for cubes...monos = IMHO...
No fanning, no misting, no filling the humidifiers, just get the poly density/tightness right w/ a small fan going in the room & you're done.

That pic I just posted was misted 1xday. No fanning but one hole was unplugged during the daytime light cycle for the first 4 days after it was introduced to fruiting conditions. Then I gave it one more mist and sealed the hole up until the pins were mature. At this point the mutated penal pinset was already in its place and ready for war on the substrate.
That is just how I get down though, I have grow them the way you explained to and it works just as well. It really all just boils down to preference in terms of technique. Enough experience and you learn to do it a bunch of different ways.

I did not but I do now. I did notice a lot of condensation buildng up at the top tho. I cut a slit an inch long in the back side.

My RH sits at about 98 all the time, even when the humidifier cycles it seems to be pretty stable. It's been fairly humid in my region so I'm sure that helps. This is my first bulk attempt so I'm sure I will be getting a thorough education in FAE vs RH
Is misting necessary in your experience? My tray doesn't have a casing layer. It seems to have a good amount of moisture on the surface, but all I'm going by is what my cakes liked when I was doing them for a few months.

I've never misted any of my GH trays or Monos...they turn out fine.

my first tray is going a bit nuts, it's got nute balls, pins, and fuzzy cloud-like mycelium. It's really cool. I posted a few pics

First harvest weight: 448.8g wet!
Plenty of side pinning was going on, lots of mushies grew there too. I had to remove the substrate by hand from the tray, which I will line next time as well.
I moved the sub block to a 35 gal tote, filled with cold water in the tub, and placed another 35 gal tote on top, weighted with bricks.
My sub got a little ripped up during harvest but it seems ok. Tons of hyphal knots on the sides. WOW.
Pics in the first post!

thanks professor!
updated some pics. I was having trouble with excess moisture collecting on my substrates, as well as problems with the hoses connecting the humidifier to the GH. I simplified things and placed the humidifier in the perlite tray at the bottom of my GH and let it run 24/7 with the side curtain zipped up about halfway. Condensation is gone on the sides of the GH. Humidity stays at about 97%. The temp is equalized with the room's ambient temp. And there's no more water droplets pooling on my subs! Holy crap, I think I got it working Here's pics of my tray as of tonight.

Finally got the GH set up properly. Condensation is gone except on the lowest shelf where it just drips back on the perlite. The tray loves 6500k light. And my GH is on 2.5hrs, off a half hour. Should be full of trays by the middle of next week!

I don't know about all of you but i have problems with space being that i live in a trailer. i don't have a room that can just hold a bunch of stacked monos. I do however have a bit of space for a few monos, plus a closet for a gh. Why not combine both worlds? Often I have the issue of too much spawn. i've done both monos and a GH separately but never at the same time. Plus there's the issue of the landlords. they're really cool in some ways. For example, it was an accident, but I think they've seen paraphernalia or something of that nature lying about. But I'd never push that, you know? I never take for granted the nature of the things i take part in. I need the stealthiness that a closet greenhouse provides. And as far as the monos go, i'll just stash one or two about the house when the GH gets full, and it will too. See, the best of both worlds.
Not to mention i've learn to control the condensation in the GH. I use 2 small fans, strategically placed in the GH, on a cycle timer, with an ultra sonic on for 15min/off for 15min. And all i get is a chamber with tons of FAE, big mushrooms, and no pools of water. Not to brag, but i do love it so.

y not stack the monos....IN the closet!!! seriously, you'll fit several mono's in the footprint of a gh.
