Posisible Wild Reishi found on a hike
    #1460566 - 04/15/03 03:58 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

hi...guys

I went hiking Sunday with a few friends up on Tiger Mountain...near Preston, Wa.
We were checking out a 400 year old tree that is over 160 feet tall and over 12 1/2 feet wide at the base...there is a plak there...there was a fallen tree near by and we saw what looked like a small Reishi mushroom....and some babies.

Help me figgure out if these are in fact Reishi...I know there are several look alikes.

This pic is sorta blurry...sorry!

You might have better luck telling from this pic.

Right under the small one was babies.

Plato,
If you check this...let me know bro.
If they are Reishi...I want to work them out on some cultures.

Thanks bro!

I already cloned some of that one.
I'll let you know if it works out.

We are going back up to Tiger Mountain today.
Hopefully we will see some more fungi.

Plato...your update.
I'm starting to feel much better.
The new diet, the cutting down on smoking (less than a pack a day now), and the exercise (hiking)is helping alot.
Hard to believe that a month ago today I had a mild heart attack.
I'll call you soon bro.

Nice find road!

Did you take a spore print?
What type of tree was it growing from...if you could tell?

Lucidum grows on hardwoods. A similar looking and related specie G. oregonense grows on conifers.

See the comments on p 578 of Demystified.

I'm glad to see you are still getting out and hunting. I have been too busy slacking off on my responsibilities to get out hunting.

Joshua
