Ok. But how much longer do you think for? A week? A month?
Is there any point in leaving small patches to get bigger.
Usually during the peak of this season, when I found a new patch I would take 10 or so and leave the rest.
Is there any point in doing that anymore? Will the patches get bigger? Like I said, I left some today because there was a small amount. So I thought I would wait for it to get bigger. Should I just go and pick them?
Thanks again

i mean you always wait for the mushroosm to grow properly before you pick them. theres no point of picking pins.
people have found subs allt he way out in september. but what i'm saying is, the chances of people finding mother patches and encountering megga flushes is going to decrease from this point onwards. your finds will probably be more sparse and meager from now on.

Just looking for some preliminary thoughts on these ones I picked up today. Getting a spore print as we speak for a proper ID.

Gills are yellow-ish and stems haven't bruised blue, so really not confident...shame because there were heaps of them...
More confident about these ones, currently spore-printing also:

They're still about. Just not in the numbers say from a fortnight ago. Hopefully we get anoter good flush but I don't know, the way the weathers working at the moment it's too dry durin the day and too cold at night
Got a photo off my iPhone of a nice little 11 mushroom cluster in one of my new spots. Weird how they all seem to grow in either 7,9 or 11 shrooms in clusters. Anybody know why that is?

Yeah. Thanks. But That's not really what I meant. Sorry I worded it wrong.
What I'm saying is, is there any point in waiting for the actual patch to get bigger? Many times I've found a patch this season the next time I go back it is noticeably bigger. Will that happen anymore? That is why I left the patch today. It had about 8 decent sized Subs, but I left it thinking it would get bigger with time. Now though because the season is dying, will this actually happen?

just pick mature mushrooms when you see them, no pins, the rest is irrelevant as to whether the patch is increasing or not.

My recent experience has been surprisingly fruitless. After a great early hunt with a friend, it's been pretty much slim pickings the last few weeks. Even the same spot we picked at last time is pretty much all dried out, even though we left plenty of pins. The patch almost definitely was not raided, because when I went back to check I realized I had dropped my valuable sunglasses there and they were still there (unless I have terrible taste in sunglasses, which is possible ).
Last week I spent a whole day searching prime areas and came up with only two subs, even though I found heaps of those red mushrooms and all other manner of woodlovers. If we get a bucketload of rain I reckon it could stretch it out for another month or so, but at the moment it looks pretty slim pickings and I doubt it'll improve.
I think the best way to go would be outside Melbourne, where it's generally wetter and colder.

Hey guys. Just got back from a hunt. Good 2 hours. Came up with this. It's not heaps but it's alright. I left a few smaller patches on my way though, didn't want to be too greedy.

Ones turned over are the ones I was checking for bruising. All P. Subaeruginosa though.

Not meant to be bragging. Just thought I'd post a pretty substantial hunt to give hope to those who are starting to give up
