An albino cockroach drowned in a bottle of absinthe is rare, but not likely to be the first one to ever drown in absinthe.

Hmmmm. If we count the amount of planets which we can see with great detail and put them against ourselves, that is the standing ratio of hospitable planets to detectable lifeforms. Bear in mind that cities look like patches from space and that we do nothing to hide ourselves. Our cities seem to glow at night and our peoples emit all kinds of crazy garbage into space. Just because we do nothing to hide doesn't mean other's don't. In fact staying hidden is a proven natural defense against predation, something I think we would be wise to heed - or not.

Wow, page 4 until the Drake equation was brought up.
I don't believe that we are the most advanced planet in the universe. I think we are in the infancy stages. Also, like other posters here have said, if we were the only form of life in the universe, I think that would be very, very sad.

There's a lot of universe out there.
However, I don't buy the aliens.
If they were here, they would make themselves know.
I highly doubt we're anywhere near the most evolved/advanced.
People seem to fail to realize though how
INSANELY
FUCKING
MASSIVE
Space is. I don't think intergalactic travel will ever be possible, simply because of the sheer amount of space we're talking about. I'd say there's billions of other civilizations, but none will ever know about each other, unless they're close to each other...
OR
Some kind of species HAS evolved enough, and we're the biproduct of their technology, they created us, or maybe they ARE here, we just have no idea, or maybe we're part of them, or they're part of us, we have no clue.
Either way I'm 100% positive there's advanced life out there, no doubt in my mind.

Another thing I find funny is that people assume that our Universe is somehow "THE" Universe...
if everything is revolving around something else..
and matter never truly dies, only changes forms...
then I'd say theres an infinite number of Universes, in an infinite amount of space.
It's too big for our minds to conceive, that's the fact of the matter here.
Now in correlation to my "2nd" theory in my previous post, maybe some civilization has some how managed to evolve enough to understand space, and maybe in fact IS space,
time is just a delusion afterall.
It's all very interesting stuff, and we'll never even scratch the surface.

maybe were not, probably not.
What makes you think aliens would make themselves known? Maybe were just like ants on a log to them or microscopic bacteria and simply not worth their time/ not helpful to them whatsoever, who knows

Or maybe they're simply too far away to ever be able to reach us. The Universe is a MASSIVE place, possibly indefinite... It's just one of those things we may never know.

Theres a un-breakable ceiling on the speed that any object or thing may travel through space, but there is no limit on how fast space itself can move.
