What do you look at spirituality to be?

I don't really know what it is..everyone seems to have their own idiosyncratic interpretation of what it is.

Does this prevent you from answering the question, though?

How can it not? The word itself seems to have caught on as some sort of trend but what it results from depends on the way the it is perceived. It does seem to be coming from a deep yearning though and what that is resulted from again, relates to the self.

In my opinion it is not Christianity itself that is dying but rather the hierarchy that has warped the Christian beliefs and values for many many years. Reading into all religions and faiths the same principles come up over and over again; in my opinion without the "death anxiety" aspects to religions the main principles show a way that the world could work in harmony without the chaos and destruction man has brought about to it.

I believe to define spirituality is impossible, when you speak of spirituality every single person will have a different vision pop into their head. In our world today we know a lot, science has provided a ton of information. While that is all fine and dandy there are still things we as a species just do not understand or cannot comprehend, there is more out there then what meets the eye and for many that is where spirituality comes into play.

We live in very interesting times indeed; weather patterns, wars, and everything above and below seem to be changing at rapid rates. This is all undeniable and could be a very valid reason for the increase in spirituality.

In my opinion spirituality is all personal and is unique to each and every individual. I would agree that some take spirituality to a different level and make it something it is not. By letting the ego take over, the "spiritual" people make spirituality some sort of competition of who knows more, and what is right and wrong. I believe nature is infinite in all aspects, every opinion and belief is just as valid as the next.

Just some of my thoughts, I appreciate everyone giving there opinions as well. Great thread very interesting topic!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us all. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
