Habitat: South western pa Along a rural rode near a stream under a tree with stick's and debris from other trees.
Gills: Grayish blue when picked now (about 2 hours later) there black, i dont think their attached but im not sure,
Stem: 1 or 2 inches, 2-5 mm, sea shale white color, smooth, hollow, med thin, etc.
Cap: .5 inches to 2 inches inches, tan to a pale yellow the "rim or base was white nor its a blueish gray, lines though it for texture, more of a cone but a hour or after i picked them pretty much all of them split on the sides,
Bruising: around the bottom of that cap, the gills got black.

Yes sir, mad abundant in western pa! I have a maple tree in my yard and they grow from the buried wood, i could easily harvest several pounds. The caps do have a sort of gray/blueish tinge when damaged & the gills will turn to a black liquid, common for all inky caps. When dry the caps will appear light brown/tan, the gills will be 90% gone, a direct result of the liquefying process.
