You versed in any instruments dude?
I played drums in a pipe band in my youth which wasn't that great. I have been playing guitar for around 4 years now though.
Pipe band?
What're your influences for guitar and what style do you prefer to play?
Pipe band like the Scottish kinda thing with Bagpipes and drums and marching and stuff. Not my finest moment but whatever.
I got into guitar really being inspired by thrash like metallica's first four albums and lots of classic rock as that is what I have grown up listening to (thanks mom and dad!).
Now my musical tastes have expanded since then into a lot of death metal and black metal bands, but I still like to play some other stuff now and again.
What about yourself? What are you influences and all that stuff?

For guitar I prefer playing in a more dissonant style and like to blend slow, crushing parts with faster melancholic black metal stuff and the occassional death metal.. so Inquisition, diSEMBOWELMENT, Deathspell Omega and Blut Aus Nord are my top inspirations really.
As for keyboard I'm not restricted by genre or sound, though I prefer to make what I personally coin "metaphysical ambient", very dreamlike soundscape flowing atmospheric stuff for meditation or just to get lost in a world of escapism to.

Do you like the band Leviathan, sunset?
They are really doing it for me lately, and I am looking forward to listening to the super group called Twilight which some of the members are a part of.
Here is a song called Carrion, off Verrater.

Do I like the band Leviathan...?
I don't know. I mean...
Am I wearing a Leviathan shirt in this picture?

And that's a funny fucking coincedence, Carrion is my FAVORITE song from Leviathan, though my favorite album happens to be The Tenth Sublevel of Suicide. Wrest is one of my favorite USBM musicians for sure, though I much prefer his other project Lurker of Chalice over Leviathan. It's much more atmospheric and less 'dirty' and schizophrenic-sounding than Leviathan is.
Lurker of Chalice - Granite
Wrest is also apparently a REALLY famous tattoo artist over in San Francisco. If I'm ever there I should walk in his parlor with a LoC/Leviathan shirt and be like
'sup'
I also gotta ask, are you familiar with the black metal band Weakling (also from San Francisco)? They only ever released 1 album entitled Dead As Dreams but HOLY FUCK is it the epitomy of epic. 5 tracks, all 10-20 minutes long, and very fucking worth it. One of my Top 5 favorite metal bands for sure.
Weakling - No One Can Be Called As A Man While He'll Die
Goddamn these fucking bands who break up after releasing one album of unholy, unparalleled fucking proportions

Never heard of weakling before but I will check it out. And yeah, I have it too when a great band just stops putting out music, that shit makes me so angry.
I heard a new band today as well, but its not really a band. It's karl Sanders' solo stuff. You know all instrumental ambient ish pieces that nile has, think a whole album of that stuff. It is really great so far, here is a track called "Dreaming through the eyes of serpents"
Elder God Shrine

Karl Sanders can capture the ancient Egyptian atmosphere sound PERFECTLY. Hell I showed an Egyptian buddy of mine some Nile and he fucking loved it (and all he digs is rap/hip-hop!)
I also forgot to reply to your comment about the BM supergroup Twilight. The band is comprised of current and former members of Leviathan, Draugar, Nachtmystium, Krieg, Isis, The Atlas Moth, and Minsk. I also believe Malefic from Xasthur was a member for a short while. It's very interesting to see the styles of the individual artists come together since the first 4 bands I mentioned are solo projects. They trade off vocals in each song too and instruments as well are rotational.
Wow, I just checked Metal-Archives and see they FINALLY fucking released a 2nd album! I've been waiting for that for a while, gonna download that shit ASAP.

Here is a kind of sludgy post metal band who use cello a lot in their works, and previously used trumpets. The mix of female and male vocals are also just so amazing.
Their newest album The Ichthyologist (someone who studies fish), is great and to quote wikipedia it is :
Quote:
The album is a concept album about a man stripped of humanity and left with nothing but the sea in front of him. He adapts inhuman ways to survive the shock of human loss and total emotional tragedy, becoming something else entirely in the process
Here is the a song off the album, called Sevengill (Notorynchus Cepedianus):
EDIT:
Forgot to tell you the name of the band, they are called Giant Squid. Here is a better example of their use of chello and mixed vocals:
