ID request - Wellington NZ

There are 4 mushrooms in total.

Habitat:
Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc.

Me: I was given these by friends who picked them in Wellington bush/woods. More exact than that I do not know.

Gills:
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.

Me: Hopefully the pictures will show you more than I can write in words.

Stem:
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.

Me: Stems are between 2-3 cm long. The mushrooms are between 2 and 4 cm in diameter. One is of very odd shape - like a sausage almost.

Cap:
Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.

Spore print color:
Very important!

Me: I tried doing a spore print (couple of hours) but they have been in the fridge for a week, may be why I can't get anything?

Bruising:
Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.

Me: Can this be done even though they have been in fridge so long?

Other information:
Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

Me: I was given these by friends who have been picking a lot of mushrooms outside of Wellington this last month. They say they are strong.

I wanna make sure that these are safe, and perhaps learn something while I do it.

Yes I have never tried eating or picking mushrooms before and am precautious.

Pictures follow!

Have a great day guys!

Yes, but what species? Could they be Weraroa virescens? I don't see any blue staining.

Yeah keeping mushrooms in the fridge for a week will definitely make them not want to print, bur this is a secotoid species and will not drop a print ever as they have lost the ability to forcefully eject their spores.

I can't find any info on virescens other than it's inactive.

Yup. Looks similar. Notice any blue staining at all?

Yes, i believe I do. It isn't much, but there is blue along the edges where it broke in half.

Thanks for taking the time man.

I see bluing in the third picture at least. And probably 1st one in the second set.
And his friend said that 'they're pretty strong'. So I'm pretty sure they're Psilocybe weraroa (W. novae-zelandiae). I guessed the staining faded after a week in the fridge.
W. virescens looks pretty different from the pics I found.
EDIT: it's certainly bluing in the above photos.

Thanks Tangich for the quick reply.

I was thinking that if mushrooms are anything like us, they wouldn't bleed as much if they were kept cold. I don't even know if the bluing is the equivalent of human bleeding but just sharing some thoughts here

Already fascinated by all the knowledge and wisdom being shared on this forum!

Yes I can confirm that this was the most beautiful 4 new friends I would ever find.

In other words: yes absolutely good mushrooms with lots of good love in them!
