Cactus is not that bad.. well.. If you can survive the initial 2hrs the 12hrs of pure afterwards are always worth it IMO I've done two extractions in the past which gave ok yields but I don't know if they're worth the effort personally. I find making a concentrated 'shot' and having a chaser are the way to go. I brewed up a new batch last weekend which I need to try.

I'm glad to hear mushies aren't as bad in terms of nausea. I'm quite noobie to shrooms and so haven't had the opportunity to trip on them yet. Over the last couple of months I've been slowly collecting them, trying to build up enough for a decent trip. Found 7 so far.

Hello everybody I found these shrooms growing off a dead tree in the forest in west Auckland and I was hoping that someone could tell me if they are magic. The cap is silvery blue and the gills are a browny orange. The stem is silvery blue and they were growing directly off a dead tree in a cluster of seven. Sorry I couldn't do a spore print, I was hoping to trip tonight.
Cheers guys

No ID requests is in the title. Write up an ID request as a new post to get it ID'd. Though someone still might throw some info your way =D
-------------------- In ancient times, when demons roamed with man, They hunted, loved and lost, hand in hand, As time went on, the difference between them faded. You couldn't tell anymore, demons and man were related, and some would say the same, but who would like to claim? In time, Gods had even forgot, Demons, too, once love had sought. In times recent I remember, Once I was a man, In my heart I had an ember, I'll relate the best I can but it was snuffed, one distant December. And yet here I stand, no flesh, no bones, no seed or semen, All that's left is this Demon.

Some commenters may be interested in this thread I just started: P. Subaeruginosa experiment, which is related to a discussion of regional variation (or not) of NZ subs a few pages back on this thread.
This thread continues to produce some wicked pics (xthrx, sirius), thanks for sharing.

Okay, So I found 3 subs growing directly from a thin branch in a forest that I commonly find magics in, The mycelium is very visibile. How can I create some sort of tek from this, a grow box I can just leave somewhere till next year?

Miss Match has a sub tek that has produced this season here, I have one that has produced for the last two years here and one I set up yesterday here.
The best tek threads I have read for wood-lovers (though I have by no means read them all) were ones by Loki.
I also remember reading one by Inski where he experimented to find the best way to add chips to already growing mycelium, and the best was definitely to layer new woodchips on top and not disturb the myc.
Wood-lovers are really easy. Get some chipped wood (call a local arborist, they are chipping branches all day long), wet it out, mix in a little soil/compost 5-10/1 chips/soil, put down a couple of inches, lay out the mycelium, cover with another inch or so, case with a little compost (helps stop drying out), water thoroughly and store somewhere shady. Maybe cover with cardboard or old sack or something to help it stay damp. Make sure you have drainage holes in the bottom.
Mycelium seems to need around 9 months undisturbed minimum, and should fruit next March/April. (Take the card/sack off before fruiting, and water semi-regularly, unless you are getting regular rain (it can be a bit dry here)).

Anyone interested in cultivating should check Loki's grow thread linked above, and his gallery linked here...
He has had a little success by the looks. /sarc
