It's not wine, dude, people don't generally drink beer for the aroma. They drink it for the taste, and the buzz. :toiletduk:

if you pay $22 for 6 bottles, you're not drinking it for the buzz.

I paid about $12 for one once, and I drank it straight out of the bottle..best fucking beer I ever had. :drooling:

aroma enhances flavor.  it constitutes much of what we consider the sense of 'taste.'

Some beers, such as Hefeweizen, need to be poured-out in order to mix the yeast back in after it has settled on the bottom of the bottle.

You don't get head (haw haw) without a glass.  Decent beer probably wasn't brewed for 'maximum carbonation,' straight from the bottle to your mouf.  It was brewed to lose some of that carbonation to the head.

...and it's not just about aroma; it's also a matter of how the liquid is deposited in your mouth.  I couldn't imagine drinking Chimay from the bottle, for example (not that I have it all that often).  That flavor is supposed to loll all over your palate.

That all said, do whatever you please.  People who "over appreciate" things (fucking foodies...) piss me off a lot more than people who don't give a damn.

Right now I'm drinking Anchor Steam Liberty Ale, which I *love* -- so intricate.

I'm drinking it from the bottle.

$8 for a sixer (on sale).

Ya man I get what you're saying.  However, I don't own a single glass so I'm SOL on that end.  Maybe I should have spent $20 and gotten a plastic tulip to drink the beer out of  :blazed:

Guinness FTW. :beercat:

Guinness isnt carbonated.

Really? Shit's fucking good, anyways (I'm drinking it right now). :stoned:

Yea, I like it too.  It has nitrogen dissolved in it for bubbles, not carbon diaoxide - so though it is bubbly (kind of) its not technically carbonated.  Its nitrogenated.

Interesting.

taste is mostly smell, smelling something deeply helps you get the flavor better

What I meant to say is that people don't waft the smell of their beer towards their nose like they do with wine..sure, aroma affects flavor, but IME, drinking from a glass does not significantly increase the flavor of beer. In fact, Fat Tire tastes better for me in a bottle than on tap served in a specialized beer glass.

1.)

Taste is not "mostly smell". Ask any smoker that can still taste just fine.

2.)

Not all cheap beer is piss like Bud, Coors, or Key. Well, Coors is tolerable. If you like light beers there's not much to making it good anyway. Rolling Rock all day.

Flavor is mostly smell..the only thing our tongue detects is sourness, bitterness, saltiness, sweetness, and savoriness. Every other distinct flavor is detected by our nose.

Dude, we think alike.  I got a case of rocks in the fridge too.  I also got plenty of bud so I don't need to worry about purchasing for awhile.  I'm writing a long ass paper so I'm just kicking it exploring the world of beer.

You can be hoighty all day, but at the end just about any microbrew will be better than mass production, as is true of just about anything. Does that make it work $12 a bottle? Fuck no.

good beer usually produces good foam, yea thats part of beer too

I like foam so I get a glass which promotes foam like a tall curved glass

bottles of beer have extra sugar and other additives for lifespan and carbonation, the least you could do is show the beer some respect and let it stretch out in a cold glass.

To get a beer in your hands, many men have to work and lots of mechanism go into place, technically the beer is still being delivered if you drink it out of the bottle, you have to finish the long factory line of events by pouring it in a glass, it would be like trying to drive a car out of the factory with out a windshield and its pain, sure it will roll out but do you really want to drive that.

Guinness is alright I don't think its THAT good to be honest a little too stouty which ruins the taste...it is by far the IDEAL beer in my opinion...but I will usually get atleast one at a bar in bottle. One bar near me has em for $2 a bottle.
