Need some advice..(after birth content)..
    #14596178 - 06/11/11 01:50 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

So I just birthed my cakes and put them in the fruiting chamber. Here is the problem.....I am going out of town for a week. I have no one to water them while I'm gone. Any thoughts?

are you using a sgfc?  if so, turn on a fan and cool mist humidifier and let them go for the week.  The cakes will be a bit dried out when you get back, but it certainly wont kill the myc

I'm assuming you have a properly build SGFC. Make sure your perlite is hydrated, and cross your fingers. GL

They will definitely be dried out if you leave a fan on.

yeah, but you dont want stagnant air either, thats just asking for contams.  low fan setting and not pointed directly at the tub, itll be fine.

Dont use the fan even not pointed at your sgfc.  I left my shit like that for a week and everything dried the fuck out.

you live in a dry area?  When I was doing cakes there were a couple times where I had to leave for 4+ days, I put the light on a timer and had a fan and cool mist running and they were fine when I came back, just needed some solid misting.

I'm gonna start growing soon (Tuesday, Do you have to use a fan. Is that just to get the CO2 out of there. Instead of buying a fan can I just wave the lid of the SGFC 4 times a day?

Yes this is what you do.  The reason the fan has been suggested is cause the OP is going away for a week
