Why isn't Weiner being charged with a crime yet?
    #14595328 - 06/11/11 10:38 AM (12 years, 11 months ago)

He called in false reports of hacking to the feds and lied.  To top it off he solicited under aged girls.

In his state he's still fairly popular.  Lots of folk think it's not a big deal.  Sound's like a great state not to live in.

I'm continually impressed that Joe Q public thinks a proven liar might be a good guy to run things.  Of course people likely want the people who represent them to be like them.:satansmoking:

He did not file a false report with the police and it isn't a crime to lie to the media.

Has this been proven?  If so, he will probably be charged, eventually.

Because a mistake made in his private life is enough to make me question his ability to govern?  He's a man, he sent some pictures of his dick to some women... I've done it before, big fuckin deal.  Politicians are unfortunate to be in the spotlight throughout their tenures, they aren't celebrities, let them do their jobs, and if they vote the way their delegates want them to, they are a good representative.

Blatantly lying about it when history shows it will out would make me question their judgment. But your point is well taken. Who gives a shit about their private lives.  Of course they rave about their private lives when asking for your vote. But really many Americans care little for ethics or honesty. They want results based on their desires.

I have never once considered a person's private life when voting.  I wouldn't care if it was a half black half iranian bisexual tranny running for office, if they wanted to move the city/county/state/country in a direction that I believe it should be moving in, they will get my vote.  People don't understand that basing their votes on their own personal morals, they throw out the reason they should actually voting for.

Poor rednecks down south vote for conservatives running on faith based platforms, when those conservatives win, the people seem blind that their cause has not been helped (their poverty) by voting somebody "similar" to them.  The rich white man will only be looking to consolidate wealth and power amongst himself and his country club friends.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, who knows.

I don't think you're wrong.

I just can't seem to find anybody who will vote my desires.

The problem is that a mistake made in private can allow somebody that governs to be blackmailed or improperly influenced.

What? This was a poll taken in his fucking home state. Has your bias clouded your ability to read and comprehend?  All they did was report the fucking results.

and how much against?  I'll bet it isn't 52%.  I'll bet 48 is still a majority. Anyway sorry I blasted you. My bad.

And hell what do i know. Maybe NPR made it all up but it wasn't a very flattering report on the guy.

The only thing I can see him getting charged with is if he used congressional resources to carry out his extra-curricular activities. Who knows though maybe the house ethic's committee will come up with something. What Charlie Rangel did was far worse IMO and nothing happened to him. So, outside of his constituents voting him out I  see nothing coming of this.
