GT GrowLog Coir Tray

I spawned a qt of GT colonized rye to a few cups of coir sometime in May and i just recently birthed it.
Tray Birthed 6/14/11

Pinning 6/21/11
   Pinning 6/22/11

Growing 6/23/11

Growing 6/25/11

Growing 6/26/11 early morning

Finished 6/26/11 Afternoon

I got em fan drying. Will post dry weight when cracker dry.
Dry Weight from 1st Flush 21g cracker dry
So i tapped it out of its glass dish and dunked for a few good hours and fruited it as a cake for the 2nd flush. I left to buy some jars and rye berries and stayed at a friends and when i came back i found these. Been fanning and misting accordingly.
2nd Flush
Pinning 7/3/11

Pinning 7/4/11

I forgot to update pics of the finish of the 2nd flush. I been too busy prep'n and inoc'n grains
But total dry weight was 32g cracker dry from 2 flushes together. The 2nd flush alone was 11g dry. There is a not so special 3rd flush fruiting right now but im not so interested since i birthed a bigger cake.

What about the condensation in the corner? Im kinda worried it might start some unwanted bacteria of some sort.

I'm guessing that you have a few small holes for GE, so all should be good. Fluctuations in temps will produce condensation as well as mother nature. As far as your grow is at, it should be able to fight any contams. Be patient. If you introduced to a FC it's just going to sit there and do nothing for a couple of weeks. Better to let it colonize for a few more days. This is just MO, but I have found no down fall by letting sit for a extra days, compared to introducing to FC to early. Good Luck

I like alot more holes for GE. Looks like wrapped up to tight. I think Changing the wrapping will remove some excess moisture. I like tin foil with about 40 holes poked in it with a nail. No micropore tape. The substrate should be pretty well defended against contaminates all by itself.

I think, he's trying to say that you should change the wrap under clean (does not need to be aseptic or even sterile) conditions and then let it sit a little more.

it is not going to contaminate you can let it sit for some days. The yellow thing there is mycopiss, not going to harm:P you can change the foil and poke some holes on it or change the micropore.

No need to be sterile, just change the cover for a new one yes..it does not look done colonizing. If the mycelium doesnt for a semi solid network, fruits will be pitiful. It looks fine, not harm in leaving it to colonize more. I'd just give it a new cover with more holes.

I birthed it last night since i spotted a few knots after being away for a few days. The coir is really dry where the micropore tape holes were. Should i mist/wet it?

And this is the corner which had the most condensation. You can see the myceilum is way more fuzzy in that spot.

I gave the whole chamber a slight misting last night and fanned real good before i went to sleep and i will be continuing that cycle 2-3 times a day until i see fruits.

Looks good. Yeah just keep misting and such. Looks much more colonized from the top. Just make sure you give time for the water to evaporate between misting.

Is there too much water sitting on the mycelium? I'll try not to mist too often if there is.

Yes to much, you dont want water to sit there. Water after you mist is ok, but it should dry up. Water logged substrate is a poor pinner. I believe I can see a few knots though.

I got another tray ready to be birthed too...but the jar i used to spawn to the 2nd tray had a open 3/8" sized hole in the lid during colonization (entire time) because it was colonizing barely so i shook it up real hard and the silicone came loose and just came out and i didnt notice until it was a fully colonized jar. So i dont know what to expect from tray#2. Lets see what happens.

Ya i noticed that...it's because it wasnt foil it was wrapped in see thru 'Cling Wrap' and it kinda gave it a "fresh laffy taffy out the wrapper" effect and smoothed it out to a real thick and smooth surface and it didn't pin too good.
