Repetitive strain injury.  I've been doing some gardening work.  8 hours a day of using seceteurs.  My hand is sore as fuck now.  Felt a bit swollen yesterday.

Anyone else had RSI before?  know of any strategy's to help?

Yeah, ibuprofin and cold will bring down the swelling. If you feel like it is a joint/ligament issue I would highly recomment you get some sort of brace if you're gonna have to keep doing that work.

Try to change up your technique through the day and see if you can find ways that put less stress on your body.  Over time you can build the muscles you need to work longer, but your joints will never recover 100% if you damage them too much.  I take glucosamine supplements, but I'm not totally convinced they do anything.

Oh yeah and :bigjoint:, but you already know that :stoned:

Yeah my hand feels fucked.  Using my wrong hand next week, probably fuck that one up as well.

I have a job where this has been an issue.  For me it was more the tendons/ligaments that were in my wrist.  I started practicing leading with my left (I'm righty) and that has helped tremendously, plus I always wanted to be ambidexterous.

Maybe try to alternate throughout the day, first use your bad side a little bit, then gradually increase.  You will have to re-learn the muscle movements for that side, so don't be suprised if you feel a bit clumsy for a while.

I think of my work like martial arts training, even though it is very mindless and repetitive, I focus on bettering myself and my technique constantly.  People there think I'm strange, but so does the rest of the world :shrug:
