^^ I know someone who lives in Missouri, he was also curious if any active species of mushies grew in his vicintity, are there some links anyone can post, listing the regions of the country that certain species grow in, and whether they are active or not, conditions/locations, etc? I have looked around in the Hunting forum, but there doesn't seem to be much specific information there, and the stinking search is down.

Thanks

Apoc

You ate two handfulls of unidentified mushrooms? Man, you are asking for a nice trip to the hospital... Do you realize how STUPID that was? Do you realize how LUCKY you are?

People, please, you must use your brain, you dont just go around eating plants in the forest, do you? Eating a mushroom without proper identification will land you in the hospital, or even kill you.

You might have some sort of luck finding Panaeolus subbalteatus, but, its still hard to find them in that part of the world. They will only be growing from manure, compost heaps or maybe some rotting bales of straw, during the rainy season. However, it will still take quite a large dose to feel effects. You should really do some research before even attempting to find them. They are basically LBM's, look very generic to the untrained eye. Characteristics of this mushroom include a two-tone, or banded cap, jet-black sporeprint, absent veil, rusty-brown stalk with short white fibrils, and the possiblity of some specimens bruising blue at the mycelium attachment of the base.

As far a Panaeolus papilionaceus being active, that is untrue. You will not trip from them. They are in the Panaeolus campanulatus group. Or otherwise known as the "bell-shaped Panaeolus". They are very common around the US, growing directly from horse/cow manure.

Please, never, ever, ever eat something that has not been properly identified. If you have questions on mushrooms you find, do not hesitate to ask in the Hunting forum here at the Shroomery.

I concur.

This thread is just too stupid for existance.

The stupidity and naivety displayed in this thread is beyond most human standards.

And thats a very bad thing.

Look into an education and some common sense, boomers420.
