BRF/verm in Quart Jars?
    #1459310 - 04/15/03 04:26 AM (15 years, 1 month ago)

Gonna innoculate some jars tomorrow morning. I got a PR sporeprint from

Free Spore Ring NorthWest - a northwestern based spore ring donation organization. After sending them my order, I got a donation print within 4 days!

I know PR colonizes very fast, and I wanted to step it up a notch. Not to mention I've ran low on pint and half pint jars, but, would it be all that much trouble to just innoc some Kerr's Wide Mouth Mason Quart Jars with a brf/verm substrate?

Unlike Rye, this cake will be quite difficult to extract from the jar. As the jar's rim is smaller than the inner diameter of the jar. Will extracting the brf/verm substrate be very difficult? Any recommendations?

If you've had experience with this, or have alittle common sense youd like to share, please do!

thanks,
dmc

it would be impossible to do without cutting, plus a brf cake would take forever in there. both of these will increase contams.

better by far to get yourself some wild bird seed, soak it 24h, rinse it well, drain it really well (several hours), load the jar 2/3 the way up, and pc 90mins. inoc that, and you'll be fruiting it in 2-3 weeks.
