We found these in the grass this morning. It rained a couple of days, And up they popped.

Conic Cap-bottom width 4cms
Spores visableon stem dark purple or black even
Spore Print Dark Black

This one we found walking to the store, just thought it was cool. Pink gills and and obvious veil. There?s a little guy growing right next to him too.

First off, it would be helpful to let us know where the mushrooms were found (what part of the country/world.

The first ones, at first glance, look like Coprinus micaceus, a common spring lawn mushroom which is probably growing on some buried wood. There are a couple similar species of mushroom which resemble it. Are there tiny (use a magnifier) mica-like granules on the surface of the cap (they can be washed off)?

The second ones are an Agaricus of some sort. Agaricus is a difficult genus to identify accurately to species in. To have any hope of identifying them to species we need to know about their odor and what color they bruise inside (cut one in half vertically and scrape it with your knife edge - it can take an hour for come color changes to occur). It would also be helpful to know what kinds of trees were growing nearby.

Let us know.

Happy mushrooming!

We are in Northern California. The pink one was found underneath pine trees. We didn't keep it, we are practicing taking pictures with the digicam and that is one that turned out really well. The pink was just so cute.

A couple of the little ones that were a little distance from the bunch did have little specs. The ones bunched together didn't.

My Daddy got me Samsung Digimax 101 at Wal-Mart for $119. It has an LCD screen, can take movies , has a 2x's zoom, a browser type thing on the lcd to check your pics and delete what you don't want, oh and it has a slot for an SD card. Very cool, best thing I have ever got.
