Treating Dry Myc in Jars (pics)

Hi again. I'm about 2 weeks in with my pf tek jars, but I've run into some more problems. Some of my jars' dry verm layer has fallen through the sides. I think this has allowed evaporation to happen quickly, so the myc has started to dry out. My question is.. Is this myc still salvageable? The first two pictures are the dried out, fuzzy-like myc. The third picture is my fastest jar (for comparison) and it looks different from the other two. It's wetter and ropier.

it because the first 2 pics are of an infection, and the third pic is healthy mycelium. If they are all different jars, the first 2 need thrown out

What sort of infection? Is it mold related? Are you sure it's not just dried out?

It does look like bacteria. Notice the yellow? Also, some myc will be ropey and some will be fuzzy. Luck of genetics

Should I just try injecting water anyway?

Also, is this type of bacteria common? Is there a name for it? I only have 3 jars that have the dry verm falling through the sides.. it could be myc that just turned dry? or I guess it could be bacteria like you guys said that got in because of the missing dry verm layer, but I don't want to just toss them out without knowing for sure.

I can see moisture above the myc/contam in the first picture. Isolate the suspected contam jars and observe over the next few days. Just leave the non-suspect jars alone and let them do their business. Patience is the name of the game.
IDK what the name of the contam is .... it just looks not good so I would assume its bad lol

No I wouldn't inject water! They look too wet honestly. Thats probably what you have bacteria.

Ahh you're right about the moisture, but do you know how this bacteria reacts? Do you know if it just stays there or grows? I just want to know so that I'll be able to tell if anything happens (or does not happen).

To be honest .... I don't know anything about contams I havent seen first hand. If I havent had a problem with it then I havn't done my homework on it. Try searching about bacteria (or whatever you have) or post about it in the contamination forum.

But I'm using the foil like a lid. It's got holes on top from inoculation and for gas exchange, but I'll check out yo link!!

So you don't have a lid? Just foil?

the holes that you stuck your needle through need to be open, or covered in a filter material.
your dry verm layer is a good filter material, and so you can(and should) leave your inoculation holes open

It's like 4 layers of foil with 4 open holes in them. Most of the have the dry verm layer. The couple that don't have their verm layer fallen through the sides of the jar and are now developing that strange fuzzy myc/contam?.

Use the lid next time, with foil over that. Either you mixed the sub too wet, water got in, or it's "wet spot" bacteria. It looks too wet
