Who wouldn't love an Erowid app?

I would do anything for an Erowid app, besides make it myself!
I can picture it perfectly, and I would use it all the damn time!

The Erowid website in general could use a complete overhaul. I'd rather see that (with a mobile friendly version possibly, though not necessary).
The problem with apps is all the different platforms you'd have to support... In addition to all the potential people you leave out.
The Internet is universal.

I'd like a mobile version, but not an "app." And yes, that site needs an overhaul. Take out a lot of the mumbo jumbo.
I have a 2g iPhone (the original one, not the stupid new one) and the developers would probably only support bullshit 4.x firmware, meaning I wouldn't be able to have it. I would need it for 3.1.3 firmware.
Another problem with apps is that a lot of them SUCK memory (ram) from your phone and use up way too much graphics memory. The app I have for "Cannabis News Pro" uses up WAY too much ram! My ram starts at 50mg, and when I'm using the app, it goes all the way down to 10mg. Absolutely ridiculous.
My 2 cents.

I could agree with this. Erowid is a damn great site, and could be made even better if they were to overhaul. I also think they could stand to update more often and maybe even add a forum? I don't know, just my opinion. But there's only so much you can do with no money!

If it was more mobile friendly you wouldn't really need an app.
I think erowid is fine and perfect as is.

Since you know how much ram you have at any given time, I'm assuming you're using SBSettings and are therefor jailbroken?
I know this is hard to hear (trust me, I know because I have a 3G which is now obsolete because of iOS5) but the reason you have such a shitty time opening apps like Cannabis News Pro is very possibly due to you being jailbroken and running shut that isn't meant for your phone. If you have LockInfo, SBSettings, any of the notification hacks, even multitasking or springboard wallpaper you're almost definitely pushing your phone too hard.
I went back to non-JB'd and my battery lasts literally three times as long now AND I CAN OPEN APPS IN A REASONABLE TIME WHAT!?!?? Amazing to me, anyways.

When you jailbreak your iPhone, you disable the program that causes the phone to run efficiently. The phone starts running background programs and keeps them running when it doesn't need to.
Jailbroken iPhones are great, but you really do sacrifice speed and battery power.

Yah, it's jailbroken.
I thought all it does it patch something related to the locking of AT&T.
Whatever. I NEED to have it jailbroken because I have tmobile.
I wish I could buy a factory unlocked 3gs, but I'm not in the position to spend money on frivolous things like that.
I do have sbsettings and winterboard, though I've used my phone without winterboard and I didn't notice a difference with ram usage.

Ah, I see.
I've referred a friend to THIS ARTICLE before, and he had a lot of success. Something I recommend.
The launch daemons it mentions are the background processes I was talking about

I've deleted several launchdaemons. More than the guy who wrote the article. I haven't noticed my phone getting slower at all. I think other people just have bad luck. I've always wanted to get rid of all the extra language packs. I'll look into it. Anyway, I don't want to hijack this thread.

I'm sure the two would become close partners. I would spend an equal amount of time on both I imagine!

This would be a really neat thing to have, but at the same time, I don't find myself using Erowid for much other than preliminary research of a drug I'm interested in. I don't feel like it's necessary to refer back to the website often, but maybe that's just me.

If you are referring to an iPhone app, I completely agree. But I'm sure Apple wouldn't allow it because it encouraged you to eat things other than apples.
