Texas Law
    #1459092 - 04/15/03 02:26 AM (13 years, 10 months ago)

I'd like to begin growing my own "magic mushrooms", but I live in Texas and am unclear on the laws. As far as I can tell on the Texas Health and Safety Code (http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cgi-bin/getcode.pl?frame=right2&code=TX&ls=stat&law=13&art=138), having or growing any amount of "magic mushrooms" (Psiclobin) is illegal, but I remember reading somewhere else that growing mushrooms for research purposes in Texas is legal, but growing them for ingestion or sale is illegal. Obviously, I'm inclined to believe my interpretation of the Texas Health and Safety Code, but can anyone else offer any other insight? I'm about to order a kit and/or spores, but don't really feel like going to jail for doing so.

well spores and kits are legal while actully growing psilocybe shrooms is very illigal and selling is. But dont use a kit. Try one of the teks here on the shroomery.

Spores are legal in Texas as they don't contain any illegal drugs. It gets illegal when the spores germinate. From then on, you can get sent to jail.

A shop in the Dallas area was recently told by the feds to stop selling kits or get shutdown, although I'm sure getting shutdown is a daily risk for them. You probably wouldn't be able to pick up a kit without ordering off the internet or from a catalog.

Either way, I recommend making a better kit yourself for much cheaper. A lot of people here have great setups, even incognito setups for under your bed or in your closet. Do a search for whatever you'd like and I'm sure some good information will come up.

ok, thanks...  i've decided not to grow them since it's illegal.  i'm just going to view examine the spores under a microscope... or something

But ew... I'm sorry, I just have an extremely "lab spoiled" palate at this point :syringe:

I'm your neighbor in ET too, btw =D and he is NOT wrong, and they DO work VERY well.  They are just a special breed of nasty.

Oh, I also had a scary encounter "on a roll" with a farmer about 10 or so years ago. I don't remember much, just LOTS of running, LOL - WTF was he doing up at 2:30am???

I heard they could cut your nuts off for walking across the street too fast in Texas.  If your worried about the law you had better stick to Shitakes.

This thread has been closed.

Reason:
Legal questions belong in the correct forum.  However, since the original poster hasn't been around in over 7 years, I doubt he's interested in a reply.
