5 pound trout? I'll never know!
    #14589299 - 06/10/11 07:48 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

This fish stripped the line out it had just started thunder-storming, a huge storm descended upon the valley, looking dark and heavy. the whisk of cars above was booming in the stretch below the bridge as I was now swimming downstream with this rod in my hand, my waterproof ipod, and lightening striking all around. I held on, lost my footing, I was swimming and this trout was pulling me downstream. I decide to one up,  and turned up the Stevy Ray Vaughn( my head was still above water) .. Well next thing you know, this HUGE flash ahead and sonic boom roared instantaneously as the fish jumped high above the waters. It happened so fast, the strike, the fish jumping, and something large, moving in the distance.. It was an amzing fish, running from me and the lingering storm. The lightening flash had struck a tree on the bank less than 20 yards away, and I was still moving at about 5 miles per hour, slightly stunned and swimming. In just a few seconds, the tree began to fall into the river, directly in my path.. I tried to put my feet down but I couldn't get a sure footing and what was worse, is I saw three water moccasins hanging in the tree, directly in my path.. I made a mad dash for the shore and found a footing in the sandy muck, barely holding onto the rod.. I had set the rod down and put a rock on it, to turn up the RayV, as the rain pounded my head under the open sky like the cars on the freeway.. I wonder what they think if they saw this guy floating in the middle of a river during a lightening storm. I picked the rod back up and started fighting hard, this guy was trying to pull me back in the river when I heard a SNAP... pop, loose, nothing..  The trout jumped right as the line broke, almost as if to say gotcha, somehow claiming this was his stretch of the river.. Those moccasins were like 4 feet, and nesting or something, they looked pretty fried but pissed off after the lightening struck, I was like pretty lucky. I found a place to get out of the lightening and less than 10 minutes later, the storm had passed.. WOW I thought, as I looked back down the stretch of river I had just barely survived.. It was an interesting walk back to the car, about 200 yards away, as the story raced and paced in my mind.

Then I drive away in my solar powered piece of shit car, cool stuff man.

And then I go kill a bitch because the flaming orb in the sky told me to do so, and I don't know, oppress a few minorities here and there in the name of nuclear fusion?

Religion is fun.

Well if you want to get technical, aluminum is technically a metalloid, but it's still conductive.

All of the rods I have are carbon or fiber glass as far as I know, I wouldn't have thought metal would be flexible enough to make a good rod.

I do hate it when a good fish gets away too :crankey:, sounds like it gave you a good fight though.
