I had my first hunt for them in my area but couldnt find any, I check in cow fields, old haystacks I even asked some people where fertilised fields were, afterall it where it grows or wikipedia and other sites have lied to me, it's the only mushroom growing at this time I can obtain, is it hard to find these? The weather has been sunny and rainy.

277 records of Panaeolus cinctulus finds in the UK, from 1896 to 2009. In order to see the map, click on the (blue) letters/numbers:
http://www.fieldmycology.net/FRDBI/FRDBIrecord.asp?intGBNum=34284
Check out the most promising habitats: Horse pastures and piles of rotting horse poo / straw mixture from stables.

I have a hard time finding them too. But I usually don't look for them or hunt a lot of horse poop. They're widespread, but not always locally abundant.

I think that I might yet be a little early in the season. The weather haven't been over over 80F all year in the PNW. I have read that june-july is the time of year in my neck of the woods. But we will see about that. I have seen tons of pan foes which is a good sign. What habitat have you found them in MR. Zimmer?

Horseshit. They grow on decomposing hay. Preferably after it's been through the horse.

It sounds so poetic. "after it's been through the horse." made my day =D
-------------------- In ancient times, when demons roamed with man, They hunted, loved and lost, hand in hand, As time went on, the difference between them faded. You couldn't tell anymore, demons and man were related, and some would say the same, but who would like to claim? In time, Gods had even forgot, Demons, too, once love had sought. In times recent I remember, Once I was a man, In my heart I had an ember, I'll relate the best I can but it was snuffed, one distant December. And yet here I stand, no flesh, no bones, no seed or semen, All that's left is this Demon.
