Has anyone watched Oliver Stone's "JFK" ?
    #1458416 - 04/14/03 10:39 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

I just got the dvd "JFK" about 8 days ago and I've watched it every day since, I have it on right now. I can't get enough, it's too fantastic. I've never done any research into the Kennedy assassination but now I'm going to get any relevant books on the subject, could anyone make a suggestion as to which books? Also how accurate is this movie? Total bullshit or close to the truth? Was Jim Garrison on to something or a crackpot?

i dont know how true the film is, but i think the film has an interesting theme about "reconstructing reality" that may signify that it doesnt contain many facts. I personally dont know shit about jfk's assasination, but throughout the film there are constant references to the idea of peicing together bits and peices of reality to make something completely false seem real. for example: the photo doctoring scenes.

I'm pretty sure most of the evidence in that movie was actual evidence from the assasination.

I've heard the movie is fairly factual, but that it's got some of Stone's own personal ideas or whatever.

What you really need to see is "The Men Who Killed Kennedy". You can buy it for fairly cheap on amazon. It was a series that originally showed on A&E. Seriously, get it. It's got interviews from witnesses, people with mafia ties, people who've done a LOT of research etc. etc.. Get it. You won't regret it.

Thanks to everyone for the opinions and suggestions. I'm going to order the dvd you pointed out along with Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy by Marrs and False Witness by Lambert as a counterpoint, I'll order them today from Amazon and that should keep me busy for a while

More opinions please, pro or con, is the military-industrial complex behind Kennedy's death or did Oswald act alone? To me the bullet wounds on Kennedy prove that more than one gunman was involved, but that in itself doesn't prove that government agencies participated in or condoned the assassination. What do you think?

I like the explanation that "The Men Who Killed Kennedy" gave. They showed evidence that implicates government agencies tied in with the mafia.

If nothing else, the government is guilty of massive coverups.

well, i think there is obviously no way it was just oswald, oswald was obviously a "patsy" i think kennedy was an enemy of the WASP elite, along with martin, malcolm, huey, rfk, john lennon etc. im not saying the same people killed all of them, but its no coincedence all the leaders of the 60's social revolution were assasinated.

I agree, I don't think that it's mere coincidence that so many were murdered. I like what Mr. X (Sutherland) said in the movie, "Kings are killed, politics is power, nothing more.". It seems that certain elements fought against the changing political/social climate the only way they knew how; through murder and intrigue. The CIA was in my opinion first and foremost of these elements. If Oswald was truly the lone assassin why not release all the findings to the public, why release files decades later? If the Warren commission is correct why hide information?

Learyfan, that picture is freaking me out, I swear it seems to focus in on a pot leaf? I can't tell for sure. Another great picture though, thank you!
