I think during the process of death, the brain goes through incredible and dramatic changes, probably secreting all sorts of chemicals which most likely play into these NDE's. I, of course, have absolutely no idea, but I don't think that NDE's count as proof of life after death.

Yes but the studies have been done on people that are clinically dead. No brain function. Gone. Sometimes for a long time!!!
Type NDE documentary into youtube if you are interested ;-) Its unbiased.
the scientific POV is that they cannot establish at what time the people are having the experiences themselves, however, people have reported data on things that have happened while they were brain dead that seems impossible they would randomly make up. Visiting the relatives in spirit form and then reporting exactly where, they were, what they did and said etc etc Thats one hell of an amazing coincidence in some cases. Which is why the research labs have been set up - not just here in the UK but world wide. Its been being noticed by top medical professionals world over.
well can't you write that off as the brain playing a massive trick on you? Imagine, as you are dying, you are probably thinking about your life, all your experiences, all of your family and loved ones...is it that big of a stretch to say the brain put you in a place where you could converse with your deceased loved ones?
Trust me I am fascinated by near death experiences also. The door guy at the bar I work at was in a horrible dirt biking accident a year or so back and died for 3 minutes. He told me that it (death) was absolute beauty, bliss, and peace. Although that says to me that there was some piece of him that was still there, still able to experience that peace. Which means that he wasn't ACTUALLY dead.
Although, that's me assuming that you can't experience anything whilst dead so idk...

Some people do just write it off. Problem is the data has been so precise that the doctors felt it nessacery to open the research labs... they don't take this sort of stuff lightly, these people are rational, scientific and experts in the fields.
Its the experiences go further than just what I described there. People have come back with massive quantities of accurate data and information about events taking place while they were clinically dead. No brain or body function.
I can't just write that off...
Even top scientists are now discussing the concept that the brain is the reciever of counsciousness not the creator. We have to discuss it because the data is starting to point that way. Yes its inconclusive but the fact it exists at all is absolutely bizzare and unexplainable with the old paradigm view. We are simply realising we don't understand it yet and there is clearly more to counsciousness.

if theirs a life after death. then why say its life.. when your already dead. how can that be living? why even die in the first place if the consciousness keeps on living anyways.
nothing keeps on "living" after death, not even the consciousness, i mean.. come on.. its DEATH!

Semantics.
Its about the best term we have for it but I spose we could spend all day discussing the technicalities of definition of wording.

I don't see how the "eaten by worms" view of death is egoistic. People who hold that view know that their ego will be destroyed forever.
Because we don't know ;-) The ego is there to make you think you do know. Its what clings us to this reality. IMO
We don't know, right, but I go on the evidence, if that's egoistic then forgive me. There's no real evidence for life after death other than subjective and personal experiences.
I've never had one of these experiences and so personally, I don't believe in life after death.
Where's the evidence that says life is more real than any dream?
Question everything--especially reality.
