New smilies with religious & spiritual significance!
#14583556 - 06/09/11 05:57 AM (12 years, 7 months ago) |

Upon seeing the smilie for God is this:

I decided to lock down a 10 other spiritual/religious symbols in a less southparky way. So, in alphabetical order:
;adinkra;
;allah;
;buddhism;
;cross;
;islam;
;judaism;
;om;
;namaste;
;rastafari;
;wicca;
Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg, but its a start.
If you personally adhere to a religious or spiritual denomination that you like to see refl;ected and would use the symbol of, find the most beautiful squaresized symbol of it, that would look good at 100x100 pixels max (nothing intricate) and which is universally recognizable by all members of that denominantion, please submit it.
You get bonus points if you submit it, cropped down to smaller than 100x100px in GIF format.
Please only submit the ones YOU personally subscribe to and which have broad recognition.
Personally I feel the southpark "god" image is intended to offend believers and as such unssuitable. All suggestions for a replacement God are welcome as long as the symbol has no particular religious affiliation. Me, I'm thinking of a representation of the Sun, as most religions see the sun as a symbol of whatever highest force guides us.
Oh, no satanism etc unless you ARE a satanist.
State your case with your submission.

This is my proposal for the god smilie:

The sun is an universal symbol for God. I didnt chose one with a face, cause a face implies masculinity or femininity which could cause problems also. The symbol chosen has no particular religious affiliation.

Good cause I would have had to ask for my prayers back.

Not necessarily these but:

'Personally' I don't like to give an impression of god being something out there since so many of the more delicate minds with an overpowering ego take it in so I would say do something about the self.

IMO is just fine the way it is. Add a :god2: if you like but editing smileys for political correctness is nothing but censorship of the person who originally submitted that picture and associated tag to the Shroomery.

Anyone can nominate a picture with associated tag but it has to be submitted by a moderator.

The south park dudes knew what they were doing when they symbolized god in that way and it would be stupid to change it. Wiccan, there are as many definitions of God as there are believers.

Poid and his interpetaion of life/god? If you are relying on that shit man, get creative. What image would you create god in and put it to a moderator like Decypher used to be.

No matter what orientation or rotation symmetry should apply, the Tao should still be valid, no?

No. Yang, ---, White, ascends and Yin, - -, descends. Its like hitlers use of the swastika, it needs to point the right way.

Quote:
The Taijitu is one of the oldest and best-known life symbols in the world, but few understand its full meaning. It represents one of the most fundamental and profound theories of ancient Taoist philosophy. At its heart are the two poles of existence, which are opposite but complementary. The light, white Yang moving up blends into the dark, black Yin moving down. Yin and Yang are dependent opposing forces that flow in a natural cycle, always seeking balance. Though they are opposing, they are not in opposition to one another. As part of the Tao, they are merely two aspects of a single reality. Each contains the seed of the other, which is why we see a black spot of Yin in the white Yang and vice versa. They do not merely replace each other but actually become each other through the constant flow of the universe

Moses, man moses and that, if it's true from old history, has some significance in a health way back in that time frame. I would believe in that sort of thing and the Old Testament Bible but I think it's such a shitty history book. From what I got from it and that symbol originated from.
