A walk in the park
    #14582079 - 06/08/11 09:30 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I was inspired by the ovids in Washington post, so I decided to take a walk in a park that had a bunch of wood chips with a river no more then 10 feet away from them. No ovids :frown: but I did find some interesting looking mushrooms and a shit-ton of agocybe.

Pholiotina species

Pans

Psathyrella ?

A couple I can't identify.

I took some of the gymnopus mycelium home with me, well I was intending to pick one of the mushroom to see the gills but when I did it ripped up some of bunch of the mycelium. I bought a couple of bags of wood chips about a month ago so I just dug a whole in the chips and burried the mycelium, I hope it will grow. The gills are not attached and they are a whitish grey color, I don't know if you can see it in the photo.

gymnopus acervatus.

with regular watering they should grow.
you should have brought home some of the debris they were growing in.
this should have guaranteed success.
that debris looks rather weathered as compared to "fresh" wood chips.
you could have tried boiling the wood chips before planting as well.
regardless, good luck.

I don't the number 3 is either a gymnopus acervatus or a Psathyrella multipedata. The stem is chalk white and bruising a darker color where touched. I think they are some kind of a gymnopus because of the cap and the unattached gills. Hopefully the will mycelium grow in the wood chips in my backyard, then I can get a better look at them. Thanks for the ID's everyone :grin:
