Some people just like the sound of aliens talking. Who are you to judge what they listen to? I know that the only dubstep I like is when it sounds like the transformers are having a rap battle.
I can get into a dubstep show. I do not just go around listening to it though. But I feel like the people who don't like dubstep have never been to a sick show, on sick drugs, with sick bass making your body vibrate so fucking awesome you can hardly even stand, and then there's lights and bitches and booze and pot and everything to go with it.
Dubstep has its place, you just haven't seen it.

Up until the point that "everything else" begins to infringe on the persons own ability either to judge or enjoy themselves.. Then, music can be used as an oppresive tool

I didn't judge what some people like to listen to. I said I don't get why someone would spend the considerable time and effort, as explained by nice1, to get a handle on the complexities of a DAW, learn how to use essential production techniques like proper eq, stereo imaging, compression, critical mastering techniques - and these things are very complex and do take years of learning and practice to make them work well - and then crank out something like dubstep or whatever the currently popular electronic genre is.
If you have the skills, make something unique, push some boundaries, explore new rhythms, be as adventurous and as musical as possible.

Right, and those things have jack shit to do with music, thanks for illustrating my point so clearly.

Never said it didn't have its place, it clearly does. It's just that it is not a very musical place. It is a place where people don't give a shit about music, they want a party soundtrack.

The best you can do is get 5 guitars and slap 20 pedals on them, and it still sounds like crap, because analog instruments are inherently limited which got old and boring a LONG time ago.
True, you get way more melodic nuance and control, but the most beautiful melody in the world only goes so far when you really can't do anything with it.
Pretty much all analog music sounds like garbage without a soundman using electronics to shape the shit out of it, thats why all recordings and (quality) live performances regardless of genre use soundmen and electronics.
Wow, just . . . wow. Don't even know where to begin with this post except to say that I disagree completely with pretty much everything you have to say.

"...jack shit to do with music..."
I think altering how your body feels and reacts to the music definitely has to do with the music. A song to a sober person might not mean as much to somebody who is tripping, but its the same song.
Yes, its repetitive boom-boom-chick, but there are definitely some very good dubstep spinners. Ones that definitely mix something musical indeed.

They've been spewing that shit since the 60s. Two hundred years from now electronic "music" will still be missing something. And tone deaf, hipsters will still be saying it's the future.

If anyone doesn't like this dubstep song, they can get fucked. This is incredible, amazing music, and eats most of the bullshit music posted in this thread.
I dare you to disagree.

Gotta say I think that just because something is better on drugs does not improve its face value. Also just because some people on drugs like a certain kind of music, does not mean it is the best music to listen to on drugs.
Last party I went to I took MDMA, and there was some dubstep artists playing. I realized pretty quickly that I was not enjoying the music at all, and it was actually limiting my ability to enjoy my high.
When I got home I listened to all my queen albums over and over again, especially this song:
Also this is coming from someone who likes electronic music.

The genre or label comes after the creation. The word dubstep was born out of a development of a new style. TBH all it really means is that it fits in a 140 BPM tempo and the beat is not standard 4 on the floor. Thats about it. This makes it possible to mix the music which is what DJs require to do their job. As for making something more adventurous. I think electronic music is as adventurous as we have got If you can do better then go for it. Post here when its done cuz I'd love to see this amazing adventurous music you have thought of that no-one else has

i love dubstep and don't like joker at all.
Pretty much don't do drugs, have loved dubstep regardless. I've listened to it all day long, walking around with headphones on for 4-5 years. Rarely go to dubstep shows.
lol. This thread is now "say this track isn't sick i dare you" thread.

Honestly most of the electronic music coming out of this generation is pretty weak compared to the classics.

I know why. Cause it triggers dopamine discharges which is why you smoke weed and do speedy drugs etc. I don't like dubstep and I don't like bands like the grateful dead, phish, queen etc but I don't bitch about it. Fuck you closeminded tards for saying whatever genre sucks balls since you cant understand it.
