For a limited time only! Leanr How to build a strong argument, with three easy steps!!!!
    #14581281 - 06/08/11 06:47 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Here's my way of building a strong argument for someone/your mind to believe.

Step One

Define the concepts that relate to the conclusion.

Ie. If i conclude that caffeine in coca-cola makes you more hyper than sugar in that drink; I would define, sugar, coca-cola, hyper, and caffeine.

Step two

Identify phenomena(that can be experienced with the five senses) that are connected to your conclusion.

Ie. If you conclude that caffeine in coco-cola makes you more energetic than the sugar, ask the person to identify times when they drank caffeine and ask them to relate it to when they drank a sugar based soft-drink.

Step three

Begin your argument with a conclusion. State the definitions, one by one, giving examples of each and connect, relate and explain the phenomena you have identify, in relation to your conclusion.

Side Note: When describing how the phenomena connects to your conclusion/definitions, do not use more than one definition at a time in each sentence.

Articulating reasons or situations that might negate your own arguments is intellectually honest and generally very helpful in being taken seriously.  Critical thinkers can easily sniff out when somebody hasn't questioned (and answered) their own stance.  (This is well and famously described in feynmans cargo cult science)
