Hunting, location distances, how far is far away (4u personally|)?....

Hi all, I am wondering what people regularly travel to go hunting for mushrooms. Do you consider an hour or two's drive a big journey out? Does where you live in the world make a difference? A 2 hour drive might seem like a lot for a European dweller but not so for someone in the USA/Canada, I will let you tell me.
Very interested by all means add the following....
Do you normally plan a stop over? How long do you tend to take "nature walk" for?
Personally a 1 hour drive is typical but I will possibly be considering venturing out further this year to enhance finds. I have a better car than I used to have, I had a 19 year old car previously made it slightly cold and perilous (used to leak water) lol.
cool.

Shit, I'd travel to the other side of the world to hunt for mushrooms if I could afford it 2 hour drive isn't too much, especially if you're going to find some good edibles. Make a camping trip out of it.

For a day trip, 3-4 Hr drive is my max... And should be worth it
I have driven, recently, over 370 miles in a day of hunting... But came home with several pounds of morels.....

My old patch was a 45 min walk away, now since moving I'm about 5-10 minutes away from lib fields.
This autumn I'm not going to need to travel for more than an hour to get to a hunting ground as I'm based in the Peaks.
Including the distance covered in the actual hunt itself I don't think that I would walk for more than 11-12 miles in a day but with a car that distance is increased.

Cool, nice responses. I am thinking that 1.5 hour drives might be on the cards this year to hit some new potentially good spots. It depends really as the season is fairly short and it depends what other stuff I have on for any given day. i.e. work. Would you drive for 1.5 hours for a spot that "looks good" but could be a red herring ? I suppose you have to put the time in to find new fruiting places which is also good fun as well. I defo look out of the car when safe to do so at likely habitats, retracing where they were on a map can be a bit tricky (remembering landmarks etc.) I would love a spot on the doorstep but sadly have never spotted an active anywhere near where I live despite long walks and lots of looking about. I might be paying more attention to looking for cyans this year now I know they exist and roughly what they look like.

Max is about 4 hours, but typically between 20 and 45 minutes.

If there's other spots in the vicinity (or there are likely to be) and the scenery is nice, then yes.

During the winter I drove 2 hours to the bay for cyans and didn't find a damn thing... Still had fun though
