Nice result Lipa. I've seen this a few times, but it doesn't always happen. Loucal, I wouldn't be overly concerned about lack of primordia. I have done transfers from the same plate onto fresh plates, some of which form primordia, and some which don't. I don't know why, but I would be sure all those plates had equal fruiting ability in a bulk substrate

Awesome thread. I love the fuzzyness of this mushroom, and the fact that it emerges from an "egg".

Cool thanks to both of you guys for the info! Mine was on MEA at about the same concentration with no additives.

It is obvious that V. volvacea and V. bombycina like hi nitrogenous substrate regardless of whether it is growing on wood or straw/compost. The addition of bran or spent substrates should really pump out some nice fruits.

got to be careful about high nitrogen additives with Volvariella volvacea, lipa, [from what i've read] as Coprinus spp are high temp competitors that favor a slightly more nitogenous material than Volvariella, and Coprinus is faster gowing as well. what a pisser if they can get in the same substrate with the paddy straw. i have not had any success with Volvariella volvacea so far. but i aim to change that.
