Fully colonized, no mushrooms
    #14576709 - 06/07/11 09:02 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I am about 7 weeks into the PF tek. My cakes have been fully colonized for 3 weeks now and there's been no signs of mushrooms. There's quite a bit of condensation in the jars and I read that loosening the lids can help so I did that about an hour ago... any suggestions? Temp is about 70F and I started giving 6500k of light 12 hours of the day after one week of the jars being fully colonized

You might want to watch the BRF tek videos.  You're supposed to take them out of the jars and put the cakes in a terrarium after rinsing very well under the faucet.

You can often get invitro mushrooms, but they take longer and are smaller.

This

Make a shotgun fruiting chamber and take the cakes out and put em in there(need a good 3-5 inches of wet perlite on the bottom to keep humidity up)

Did you only read half a tek or something?

I was under the impression that I'm not supposed to take the cakes out of the jar until the baby mushrooms (primordia) start to appear which hasn't happened at all. I have a humidifier set up to pump into the grow chamber through tubing.

So I'm assuming that they need to get out of the jars...

Yeah mate they need to get out of the jars.

Wash them under the sink then dunk them in cool water for 12-24 hours. While they are dunking make a sgfc. Here is a link on how to make one. Go to part 3 of the videos for the terrarium tek. Just go to rrs link.
