Yah man for me the sides were intense but the results were fantastic, wouldn't advise anyone to do it though unless you can handel the heaviness.

Jeeze, your a big guy k3xm.
I am 6', 181lbs and pull 330 and can squat about the same as you (on a smith.)
What kind of gains are you getting from the supplements, you say you shattered your previous records, how much are you talking about?
I think i'll keep training without supplements, but it's interesting to consider the possibilities.
Keep up the good work either way.

Not to knock on OP but I commend you for going natural, your body will thank you in the future as well. To each his own, I just find that staying as natural as possible is always the best route; wish I would have listened to my own advice; definitely paying for it in little doses here and there.

Yeah I'm a lot bigger than I used to be.
When I say "smashed" i mean I upped by squat by 15kg, where I was squatting 85kg and barely making 3 sets, the next session I was up to 100kg for 3 full sets with relative ease, and thought I'd keep going to the 'warmdown'
and yes, I commend you for going natural, my brother went all natural (due to not being able to afford supplements and shit) and he is a fucking animal. He is deadlifting 240kg and squatting near 200kg or something. He is fit as fuck, ripped, not bulky at all. He's the one who got me onto this. I would like to say I'm going natural, but I can't say no to protein and pre-WO-supps :P

I think 15kg is worthy of considered "smash", that's pretty significant.
You weigh about how much I want to - I have been slimish for some time - about the same size as PDU. I wouldn't mind eventually getting to a solid 210-220 lbs.
I just finished my first creatine cycle so as far as I know I should take a ~3 week break and then load up again, correct?

Correct, I think you could go either way really; run it for good or take breaks. In my opinion taking breaks is optimal, it keeps the body guessing. Always want to switch everything up all the time, the human body is an advanced machine, it gets used to patterns; keep it guessing and it'll keep on changing.

I thought so, too. I've been floating around 100kg for a while, but it just drifts between being fat and muscle. if i get arrogant enough i'll post a pic of where i'm at now.
also, GET OFF THE SMITHS MACHINE!!!!! those things are no good!!!!

smith machine has its own purpose. For instance I do leg press with it instead of the regular slanted leg press machine because its not at much of an angle and is way harder.
Thanks for posting your weight/height. wish it was all in pounds but still works. So 6'2 220 lbs. You could def lose some weight but im sure it will help you in the long run.
I love that routine. Is pretty much all compound stuff. How long will you be doing it for?
Why dont you change the sitting military to standing bar military?
This routine is kinda similar to mine in a way I literally only do 3-4 types of workouts a day and thats it. With putting most of my effort into deadlifts-squats-bench-military-pullups. Besides those i could care less about what else i do.
wait a sec..... didnt you post here a couple months ago postin a pic of your bro?

Adding 15kg to your lifts is certainly worthy of the word "smashed."
Good job man.
I was doing aggressive 5x5DL's through the winter and maxed out at 1x5 at 330lbs. I've now scaled it back because i am focused on training for running now that the weather is nice.
However I am still hoping to increase my poundage. So i add 10lbs to my DL every 2 5x5 sessions. Currently at 275lbs 5x5. I think i should easily (relatively speaking) lift 310 5x5 and at that point i should be able to max out at 340 at least.
It sounded like the jump from 360 to 440lbs is HUGE though, in a short period of time. Goodluck to you.
*here's hoping, anyways*
I **might** consider a protein/carb supplement to help with post workout recovery. I am going to look into it a bit more. Although the natural fruit smoothies are more appealing IMO.
It seems ridiculously expensive. Are things like yogurt, hemp seeds, peanut butter, eggs, and cottage cheese a resonable substitute for protein powders?
Regarding the smith machine: I don't even really squat. I've got a gym membership at a local homeless drop in center place and it's got weird hours. I haven't been since i got a DL set up at home. Anyways, all they have is a smith ... so basically, i have no where to free squat. *shrugs*
Maybe one day.

Get gold standard protein by Optimum Nutrition, it's one of the best proteins out, tastes good, and it's like 20 or 25 bucks a bucket.
Those foods you mentioned are good for protein of course, but if you have the right protein powder it's worth it cuz they're just convenient.

Yeah it's not the same if you're doing your normal weight, but knowing you have something to catch the bar if you can't hold it yourself can give you an extra push to push more weight than you could without the bar. At least that's how it is with me.

Dshow, yeah I did post that pic... he has since started a bulking routine as well and is fucking huge. Quite annoying really haha.
And yeah, I could definately lose a little weight, but I don't really look 'fat', just big, but it will help me the way anyway. There is no point trying to lose weight at the moment. I am starting to get a bit barrel chested, which is fine. I will cut it all out later. I can really feel my abs underneath my abdominal fat, though, the weighted situps are the shit. I think later once I get past 20kg I will start incorporating a medicine ball instead to work a lot more on my obliques (or 'cum-gutters' as my brother calls them)
I started on smith machines until I figured out it was useless, you aren't using any of your own balance and there isn't any free movement. I see a lot of guys using them though, weirdly. I guess they probably do more legs than anything else, but it doesn't feel like you're getting any core workout at all.
As I said I will be doing this compound stuff for another 5 or 6 months until I stagnate and will move onto something a little more complicated. And yeah, I alternate between sitting and standing military.
At the moment I am doing 3x5 deadlifts on my max weight, as per the routine, do you think it would be better I go to 5x5? (this means I will be dropping bit of weight off the bar, of course)
and also, a friend of mine just ordered some 'Fat Grips' that apparently work really great and have nothing but good reviews for improving a lot of forearm strength and general arm size... anyone else here used them?

Thats not your max weight if your doing 3 reps. If you started going out at 5x5. id go (5x5-60%)(5x5-75%)(4x4-80%)(3x3-85%)(2x2-90%)(1x1-max) Thats weekly ofcourse.
Thats what i did last winter when i was doing strength training. Not sure if thats exactly right but its close enough. The program is set to towards the end. Good stuff.

No I'm doing 3 sets of 5 reps.
I only do 1 rep max on the week where that day doubles up, and my numbers stated before aren't the 'max weight' or 1Rm weight, they are what I'm doing for my highest set. My 1RM deadlift is 170kg.
(ie; I will do 1RM deadlifts on the last day of deadlift week, or 1RM bench on end of chest week etc)
I don't do those exact percentages you posted, but I work up to the last set weight, then one warm down set afterwards (just started properly warming down)
There is a percentage around on the internet somewhere, I could never remember it, not sure how important it is..

Isn't more sets supposed to be for size increase, and more weight/less sets is supposed to be the best way to increase strength, i believe.
There's a million different ratios of progressively loading/deloading and cycling..
The one Dshow posted seems pretty standard.
I kind of think its a bunch of hullabaloo - Lift heavy, lift lots, rest, back off, ramp up, rest, repeat. Adapt if results are unsatisfactory.
