What to do with marrow? (done, with a pic)

I have a few leftover tail bones and I don't have anything lying around to make a stew with it; just wondering what the best method is to cook these solo and what spices to use. Any suggestions?

I would just throw um in the oven just until they are sizzling then pull um out get something to scrape out the marrow and spread it on some crackers with a little salt. Hooker tail bones are the best.

I decided on toast instead of crackers. I baked for them for 15 minutes at 450º then smeared on toast and seasoned with salt and parsley. It was damn good. Like meat butter...

hahah yeah both of you had the same idea as me.
Bone marrow is so good.
They have this korean dish which is basically a bone marrow stew. It's awsome.

A lot of researchers think that is the first meat we consumed as a species. If that's true its probably really good for our bodies.

Scavenging whats left after the lions and jackals where done with the carcass? Possibly how we learned to use stone tools too? I could picture that.
At work we used to bake the bones then pull the marrow. Then chop it up and roll it in cloth and cover the sausages with salt for a few days. We would serve a patty on our steaks.

It's got a really funky taste that kind of took me by surprise at first, but the more I chewed and it coated my palate the better it started to taste.

15 minutes on the bake seems a little light (like it'd just be warming it), but then again I've never worked with marrow myself so I really shouldn't be sayin' nothin' of it. I'll have to give it a try!

It said to cook until it starts to separate but before it leaks out the bottom. By the time I got to eat it it was a bit warm but it wasn't bad.

Yeah that's definitely something that alot of early human archeology indicates.
Because no other terrestrial animal up to that point had really learned how to get to the flesh within the bones. Of course theres birds that know how to get marrow by dropping the large bones from the sky.
But yeah, without a doubt it was a key to human survival early on.
Bone marrow probably isn't the "healthiest" food, considering how much of it is just pure fat. But for back in ancient times when food was probably alot harder to come by, it was a wonderful source of fuel.

yeah unless the bones where split that is very light. u know bone marrow is done when it slides out of the bone with no resistance at all.

Christ, I'd like to try that, but I think that'd be too much for me. Any more description on the taste?
