New documentary featuring Bill Clinton and others calling for alternatives to the drug war
    #14576293 - 06/07/11 07:43 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Apologies if this has already been posted.

This film may have additional credibility due to an appeal to authority (previous political leaders).

There are some subtitles involved however, so it may potentially occlude some morons.

Yeah, appeal to authority is a powerful thang. Clinton is a humongous hypocrite if he's now calling for an end to the war on drugs.

On a more enouraging note, I think we're at the treshold to a new epoch on how the majority views the war on drugs. The times, they are a-changing. Slowly.

The trailer looks good.  Doubtful it will have any new information for most of us in here but the it's the way I always look at drug war documentaries.  The more of them out there without tainted misinformation the better chance more people will see it who believe the lies and maybe it will change a few minds.

I can't find a release date anywhere on this.  I want to see it.

Appeal to authority/argument from authority, etc. is our main source of hope I believe. The political battleground is composed of money, ideas, historical momentum, and votes among other things. When credible (and popular) people get on the podium, people are more likely to be persuaded. It's for this same sheeple principle that we got into so much political strife.

Not to be overly pessimistic, but this one will probably get lost among the pile - though the tide does seem to be turning albeit ever so slowly.

I guess you're unaware, there's already a plan implemented by the Obama Administration that's an alternative to the drug war, No longer do we have a drug war, now we have an epidemic of epidemic proportions but it's no longer called the war on drugs, now it's called "super happy fun time with guns a blazin' as we shoot your granny in the head because we thought your neighbor was selling drugs"

Quote:

Obama’s drug czar, Gil Kerlikowske, told the Wall Street Journal last year that he would no longer refer to our nation’s drug policy as a “war on drugs” because “we’re not at war with people in this country.”

I hope you understand that by calling it a 'public health issue' it will
allow them to bring you to trial in a drug court and sentence you to
rehab, therapy and strip you of some of your rights, the right to own a
gun for one because now you'll have had the mental health and drug
conviction and it could bring about a loss in your right to vote

dont buy into any bullshit double speak from politicians, when they say
it's time to legalize drugs then hold them to it, if they say anything
other than that, call them liars and tell them it's time to end prohibition

there's nothing to imply he's actually speaking against the drug war, under
clinton the drug was was waged just as it was under Reagan and GHWB, in fact
the incarceration rate of drug offenders didnt slow in the slightest until GW
took office, clinton included rehab while in prison which actually boosted
drug war expenditures but they were slated under health making it appear as
though he was reducing drug war budgeting

Would you equate the "our presidents are just faces for the people" into that??

As in, no matter who is "president" the system remains the same.

so far it seems to hold true, one president establishes some bullshit like
the war on drugs and the next one comes along to try and top it, reagan
instituted the office of the drug czar, and all president then spent more and
more pursuing the war on drugs including the supposed to be 'drug friendly'
Obama, the one pandering to the drug crown with misdirection

I want to die candyflipping legally.

The masses first have to be convinced that drugs are ok and that still seems a bit aways considering legalization of pot failed in cali last year or whenever.:frown:
