Gymnopilus junonius?? I.D. PLEASE
    #14575186 - 06/07/11 03:51 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Habitat:
found in my front yard in new hampshire (U.S.A), my yard is less grassy than most, more different types of moss than grass and dry moss, not lush green moss.

Gills:
red or orange pores, almost scarlet, against but not attached to the stem.

Stem:
3-4 cm long, 1 1/2 cm diameter, yellow/orange, solid all the way through, texture is pretty firm and fibrous on the inside, cracks but doesnt break easily.

Cap:
2 1/2 cm in diameter, mustard yellow, almost orange. spherical cap. convex. silky texture

Spore print color:
they dont seem to make a spore print but they make an orange ring where the cap touched the paper and on the cap where the paper was touching it it turned dark blue

Bruising:
doesnt really bruise but a fingernail pressed on it makes a very dark blue line. around the bottom they have blue streaking from where the moss, leaves and grass were against them

Other information:
they dont have a very strong scent and they dont seem to grow in clusters, i only saw two of them next to eachother, theyre about 6 inches to a foot apart from eachother. when the stem is broken it turns blue on the inside and when cut in half its very very blue, almost like blue india ink but then it fades away to a greyish blue (not completely) after about ten minutes.

Any idea what you're looking for? Gyms don't have pores.
You probably found a bluing bolete, that should explain the pores and the bruising of a "almost like blue india ink" color. Maybe a red gyroporus.

Morchella sp. from Apple orchards can be dangerous due to their treatment with lead.

Eating some is no big deal, you just don't want to eat them on a regular basis.
