Mini mono update [Re: Panama]

I'm not sure what has happened to my mini mono grow...it seemed to be doing well, but then the first pins appeared (3), and as they grew, the caps looked all cracked... I suspected that I had let the substrate dry out too much. I removed the three and misted, misted, misted, and even resorted to injecting 120cc's of sterile water directly into the substrate. The tub has continued to pin now, but only around the sides, none in the middle...

The maturing fruit also seems to be different shades from my first grow posted earlier, though they are the same GT strain. I have one very large one that is 4" tall and about 1" thick that almost looks albino...

There is a variety of shades even in groupings, and I'm not sure what that could be attributed to...but I'm almost sure I let my substrate get too dry...

After this flush is finished, I'll soak overnight and try for another. In the mean time, I'll be working on a new setup with a proper SGFC and better sterile technique to minimize contams.

Yea it looks like its dry. It shrunk alot huh? Thats probably why its
growing from the side, because thats where the moisture is.

Yes, I forgot to mention that it shrunk away from the sides of the tub by almost 1/2"... dang it! I'll get it right one of these times...

I bet if you dunked it, and kept up on it, it would probably fruit like crazy.

I'm hoping so...after this flush finishes, I'm gonna soak for at least 12 hours in the fridge and see what happens.

don't soak for over 4 hours.
I used to dunk my 6qt tubs for 3 & they'd be fine w/ that for a second flush.

it's all good. You can go 4 w/ bulk, but don't go over 4...that's why I did 3...

She says she's happy...

Just harvested some from the first flush - three nice caps printing, and the rest in my dehydrator w/no heat...wet weight so far is 12oz. No biggie compared to what I see up here, but decent for my first mono I think. Still have to harvest another probably 7oz and then on to a second flush... the mushies were all much bigger than the first micro tubs I did earlier in this posting, heavier, and thicker. Perhaps it was the extra nutrients they had to draw from, perhaps the coffee I added made a difference...I don't know, but I'll repeat this again and watch for it drying a bit more carefully next time.

you can apply heat to your mushis to dry them.
I set my dehydrator @ 155F for drying. Gets 'em cracker in 12hrs...depending on how full it is.

How much heat can you use before it damages the potency?

I won't go above 180F...
Once they're picked, you really should be worrying more about oxidation or time spent in open air. O2 is the enemy for potency during drying.

You really are a fountain of knowledge, Todlow. I thought any heat during drying damaged potency...now I'll up the heat and get them vacu-sealed much more quickly...thanks.
