Help! Strange Dreams
    #14570874 - 06/06/11 06:44 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Alright, well i was just on another post that had to do with dreaming and i had a few questions of my own on some strange "dreams" I've had.

A few years back when i tried ecstasy for the first time, i remember going to sleep the night after and then waking up in the middle of the night, scared from some kind of nightmare. I think in the nightmare i was on some kind of drug because i was getting strange visuals and colors changing and it really scared me because this was before i had tried shrooms or any other psychedelic so i didnt know what that was.

Anyways, i woke up from the dream to find out that i could not move. So i was just laying there in the dark on my bed with a feeling like i was being held down by some kind of invisible entity or something. Finally i kinda fought it off of me, or at least got the strength to move my arms and lift myself up. I was so freaked out by it that i think i called my dad who was in the other room to help me because i was stuck.

Suddenly my dad walks in the room but i see his face all distorted and swirly. Scared the shit outta me aha. But after staring at him for a couple seconds he just vanished. So i realized he was never there in the first place. Really weird. anyone ever heard of something like this happening? Was i still dreaming or something?

Also, a couple months back i took a nap in the middle of the day on my bed. I think i had probably smoked some cannabis right before, but im not sure. Anyways, i wake up from what i think was a frightening dream, but once again i couldn't move i was paralyzed. But this time it was in the middle of the day and i could see perfectly. I was also having some strange audio hallucinations when i was in this paralyzed state. The weirder thing about this was that when it finally stopped, and i tried to get up, my vision stayed the same.

This is really hard to explain but bare with me and try to picture what happened, I would turn my head to the right, but my vision wouldn't change, i could still see my feet and the blanket in front of me, even though i could feel my head turned to the left.

The same thing happened when i turned to the right, i could even feel the bed and my body sitting up. But in my vision i could still see myself laying down on the bed. This was probably the strangest/scariest thing I've ever experienced. It was like my eyes were broken and were stuck showing me the same picture even though my surroundings changed.

I was freaked out, and i somehow managed to get myself up and feel my way to the bathroom. I felt the walls with my hands and my feet felt the ground, but my vision still showed my body laying flat on the bed with the blanket over my legs. I didnt know what to do, i was pretty scared, so i felt my way to the mirror, and then finally found may way back into my room and onto the bed again. Once i was on the bed again i closed my eyes i think and tried to relax, eventually that frozen image my eyes were showing me, and what my body was actually doing  found there way to be the same. And that image broke and i could see correctly again.

Weird shit ha, really freaked me out and i never really told anyone about it. It hasn't happened again since then but im really curious to know what happened. It felt like either my eyes were fucked up, or like my soul or something left my body and roamed my house without vision and then found its way back to my body. Really strange but im open to any ideas aha. Thanks for reading all this for whoever did.
Please give me feedback :scream:

you have experienced sleep paralysis and the disassociation following..

I have been trying to lucid dream for a couple years now and have experienced similar phenomena in my personal research.

Well is it bad? So it has nothing to do with drug use right? Sorry im so ignorant to all this lucid dreaming stuff. I definetly need to look into it.

Also, before i tried mushrooms, I had an intense dream about picking a mushroom from the ground and eating it, and then all these mario like mushrooms sprouted from everywhere and i was having crazy visuals and what not. I thought this was strange because before this dream i had never really even been interested in trying shrooms. But it felt like in this dream i really wanted to, and it felt like my dreams were kinda calling me to try it. Thats what made me end up researching and getting into all this stuff.

And a few weeks ago i had a dream i was walking down the path, and for some reason i had this feeling in my gut that this wasnt real, and then i realized i was dreaming. Then suddenly all these trees started sprouting from the ground and growing and it felt like i was controlling them and then i made a door appear and i walked through it and basically was creating a bunch of stuff like a god. But then i woke up.  Is that lucid dreaming?

I didn't read it all, but that very first part sounds exactly like the sleep paralysis that I've experienced in the past. Basically you can't move and when you try to you tend to start dreaming and thinking you're awake and moving, but all of a sudden you're laying back down and can't move. It goes on and off sometimes, but it always goes away after a while.

OP, you were experiencing sleep paralysis. No question about it. That's a near textbook expirence, and yes it is scary, but nothing to worry about.  This happens when your mind wakes up but the brain and body are still asleep.  The visual and auditory hallucinations are normal because your brain is still asleep. My room ate has this happen all the time. If I wake him while he is sleeping it can happen to him. It's happened to me once when I was doing a sleep expiremment on myself, and they only reason I didn't get scared is because I knew what I was getting myself into. For your second post about the tree dream, yes that was a lucid dream and yes you are a god in your mind.  Lucid dreaming is really cool and you can trigger one from sleep paralysis if you let yourself drift back to sleep in a lucid state.

It's not from drugs or brain damage. I've had lucid dreams and things like that long before I was into drugs. It's not some entity either, it's you. It's not aliens, communists, or satan. It's always you, because you can feel them. You need to be grounded before you explore.

I have noticed that it is easier to reach that inbetween dream/awake state when you nap. Same with being exhausted. I think all it really means is that you listen to your body

A while ago it got too strange for me, so I quit. I prefer drugs, because I know I'll return eventually. I never had that guarantee with that stuff, and so I felt I could only really explore it with a suicidal explorer mentality. Maybe that's the way to go. Not taking anything too seriously and all.

Shit man I wish I had experiences like that. Lucid dreaming without even trying? Lucky bastard lol

It's nothing to be worried about. If you get these things naturally you should read up on lucid dreaming I bet you'd pick up on it really quickly.

Might as well start by reading one of my journal entries, I'll paste it here.

I've experienced sleep paralysis all my life since I was young. For many years I felt just like you and didn't know what was happening and would get scared and fight it.

About 13 years ago I started reading about astral projection and was reminded of these night terrors I would experience and soon realized that they were related.

Because of this realization I was able to experience fully conscious astral projections within days of first reading about them.

When you wake up with sleep paralysis you naturally get frightened and want to fight it, but that is the worse possible thing you can do. You must accept this wonderful gift and experience it fully.

Instead of fighting it off you should immediately relax your whole body and still your mind. Soon you will feel vibrations coursing through your body that steadily increase in frequency and intensity.

This is the crucial point now because shit can get pretty weird. The vibrations are strong and loud, the feeling of not being able to move and not being in control can be overwhelming. To top it off you usually will feel like your not alone. Another presence is felt and it usually will seem to be sinister.

Ignore that shit. Don't give in or you will ruin everything. Keep relaxing and force your mind to remain still and thoughtless.

At this point you can start to use your mind to move yourself up and out. It will be smooth. You will feel yourself start to rise out of your body.

When you are still close to the physical body you will have very little control, and will most likely be blind. The number one goal is to get as far away from your body as you can, as quickly as you can.

Move up and out your window and you will feel the change as you enter the night air.

Now one of two things will happen, and I haven't learned how to control this even after all these years of conscious astral projection.

You will either stay in the etheric realm where you can still see your body, house and neighborhood, and can explore the earth-realm in real time.

Or you will be transported to the astral plane. If this happens you will find ourself in a brand new world you have never been to. This is where it gets good. You can fly around and explore, meet beings, get lost in buildings, dig in the dirt, drink the rain, swim the ocean and fly deep into the sky. Anything is possible, and you are just as conscious as you are right now reading this, but you are on another planet, in a different dimension.

Don't fight sleep paralysis. You have a gift. Many people practice their whole life to experience this and either it takes years of dedication, or they give up. You and anyone else who experience involuntary sleep paralysis are blessed.

I realized this years ago, and am forever grateful for this gift. :sun:
