First pics of first crop

Exciting day. Saw first signs of growth this morning on my first ever try at this!! Cute lil buggars aren't they. Hopefully they have lots of little friends whom will show themselves soon!
Thanks for all your help with growing instructions. Now I will have to research how/when to pick and how to store. Some say dry, some say not to. Some say chop, some say not to. Definitely a lot to learn the first time around!
Thanks again ;-)

WOW, these lil buggars grow quickly. I see about 50 total sprouts on my 3 cakes tonite. Only a dozen at dinner time and now 50+ at bedtime. This is fun. I hope they keep going.....
Thanks for your help! ;-)
Any good tips on hope to store once picked? Best way to dry, etc.? Thanks.....

Your humidity is too low and your cakes aren't hydrated properly thats why there pinning on the bottom of the cake where the wet perlite is

Thanks, i wondered same thing! I put small tub in larger tub tonite with top off small tub, putting 1/2 inch water in bottom of large tub that is clear with holes drilled in it and clear all around and lid on. So smaller tub with lid off is sitting in larger tub that has a little bit of water in it. I am hoping that helps the humidity. Think that will work?

Get rid of the water, standing water is a breeding ground for bacteria.with a properly built fruiting chamber you should have 4 inches of perlite on the bottom and 1/4 inch holes drilled two inches apart on all six sides, but if you can't do that mist and fan more frequently

PF tek is in there...watch the whole thing.
everyone in here is correct... I really have nothing to add.
no need for the peroxide. Just watch the videos. They'll help greatly.
good job on getting some fruits though.
Looks like you need to make sure to mist your cakes too, not just the perlite.

Thanks for the tip to add more perilite to increase humidity. I did it yesterday (along with more misting) and it really worked! Bottom have grown more and now have sprouts at top. I hope the top and sides continue to sprout and the previously low humidity didn't kill the growth potential!! This is very exciting since is my first venture into growing. I can't wait to see them grow more!
Thanks again. YOU GUYS ROCK!

Nice job jwebster!
As far as picking and drying goes, I've found that when they're ready to pick, they won't give you that hard of a time. Just sort of pinch at the base and it'll either pop off, or I'll give it a little twist to help it along.
A lot of people dry using a dehydrator, but I fan dry for a few days, then stick it in some tupperware ontop of a screen with Damp-rid (a desiccant) beneath it. Just stay away from sun drying, as I've heard that it hurts potency. (Can't say I've taken the chance to experiment with it, though)
