The reason he WONT be elected, is because the Family Values Right is going to crucify him. The two extremes that have taken over politics--the far left nanny state democrats, and the far right Family values Republicans, are not going to let a candidate in who takes power away from the federal government.

Yeah, I agree. That's why I have no faith in nominees such as Ron Paul and Gary Johnson. The GOP will undoubtedly pick some asshole like Newt Gingrich or, heaven forbid, Mitt Romney, and I'll be forced to vote for Obama again.

You know, that is a theory that I have had. That a 'Family Value' Republican will fail miserably, but a Libertarian like Ron Paul or Gary Johnson, who though SOCIALLY liberal is fiscally conservative, could steal enough Centrist and moderate left Obama supporters to win the election.

No doubt they would have a chance if they actually ran, but the fact of the matter is that they have no chance of being nominated by the socially conservative, fiscally neoconservative GOP. They are both deeply anti-establishment candidates running for a deeply pro-establishment ticket.

I'll say it again. Gary Johnson is a badass muthafucka. I've been in New Mexico for a long time, and when he was governor, he did a lot of good for the state. I have always voted dem. But, If he makes it, he has my vote.

Gary Johnson is a person who appeals to left, right, and center. Of course, the establishment politicians hate him. To me, Gary Johnson, with his fiscally conservative but socially liberal policies, are what people THOUGHT they were getting when they voted for Obama.

I'm behind him for the most part. I'd like to see him win it. But it would be so fucking weird to vote Republican. I hate to support either of the big two, especially the GOP. That's like Pat Tillman voting for the Taliban.

Holy shit a moderate! I'll vote for him if he makes the ticket, but I'm pretty skeptical of that.

trust me Gary isn't trying as hard as RP and doesn't have as big of a following or campaign funds, Gary will wind up as RPs VP.

I agree with you man, I have the same concerns... and I'm torn between the two. Let's hope the decision becomes more clear later on in the race.

I'm not 100% up to date on the race... why does he have no chance?

Because to be blatant many of his views completely go against the grain of our society. I am not saying that is a bad thing, necessarily, but it makes him a laughing stock of America and gives him no chance. At least Johnson can get the support of a lot of fiscally concerned people and not lose people by saying "lol let's legalize all drugs." Like I said, I am not opposed to Paul, I just do not believe his radical ideas would fly.

I see your point.
I just hope one of them make it... I'd really be bummed if we had another 4 years of the same shit that nobody is willing to change.

This is what I always try to say. People around here love Ron Paul and seem to have the idea that he actually has a chance of becoming President. I hate to be a sourpuss but let's be real here: it's just not gonna happen. I'd be amazed if he even gets nominated by the GOP.
