Poorman's dehytrator, 8$

Did a bit of DIY with damn good results, almost completely dried with only 24h and a relative air humidity of 85% where I live.
Needed:
-Shoes box. -This or similar -This or similar
Instructions:
-Pretty and simple. Make holes to fit the fans on the top of the box. Install the fans there, ensuring that the air is being injected and not ejected. Make small holes all around the bottom of the box, to let the air flow. Make sure that the fans are well attached to the box. Leaving empty space between the fans and the box will leave space for air to escape, reducing the effectiveness.

Nice. You could improve by laying them on wire mesh with the edges folded down about a inch.that way the mushrooms are elevated. You can get it for a dollar or two at the hardware store.

yea, a heating element would be nice too...but wouldn't really work in a cardboard box...

You could improvise by pointing a small space heater at the box

or you could just say fuck the bullshit and put them in the oven on 160 with a box fan set on low blowing directly on them and have them done that day ...
nice little improvisation though ... especially as a stealth dehydrator ...

Thanks for the feedback. Doesn't heat help to destroy psilocin and psilocybin? Also, using something to heat would rise the total cost a lot, this is dirty cheap and just works

psilocin is lost during drying no matter what.
as long as you don't go above 180F, the psilocybin will not be damaged.
Your body naturally converts psilocyb to psilo when ingesting mushrooms.

I'd buy a real dehydrator with 5 shelves for $10 tops at a thrift store, then build a large dehydratir as you start needing to dry larger amounts

has to exceed 180 degrees at surface point before it can come even close to being a factor ... you lose more psilocyben air drying over a course of a few days through oxidation than you would in the oven ... ive never lost any noticeable potency from heating elements on dehydrators or in the oven ... in fact they are usually pretty damn good as the heat helps to get the job done faster which is what you really want ...

180C / 350F is the melting point of the molecule, that may be what you are thinking of.

hmm...maybe ...thought I read somewhere to keep it below 180F during the alcohol extraction tek...
I read so much shit on here, it's hard to keep it all strait.

Check out the tek in my sig, it has a lot of the suggestions already posted above, I now have 2 of them running 24/7, they don't use heat, so there is no worry about heat loss/fire and they will make fruits rock hard in under 24h. They have 3 shelves and hold a shit ton of fruits. Plus the wire mesh shelves won't rust and let the verm/perlite, whatever particles collect in the bottom so you have nice clean dry fruits.
